Roxy sadly Paypal does not allow or use the South African ZAR currency as an option... https://www.paypal.com/us/cgi-bin/?cm...

Another alternative is www.payfast.co.za - they don't have as much functionality as PayPal though.

Happy site building

Hi Roxy,

As Ed confirmed, Yola's PayPal Ecommerce Widgets do not currently support this change (as ZAR is not available in the drop down list), and we do recommend looking into using Payfast.

However, there is a workaround that you can try by adding your own buttons from PayPal:

1. Visit this link: https://www.paypal.com/us/cgi-bin/web...
2. Customize the buttons you would like to use.
3. Copy the HTML code provided.
4. Back on your site, drag and drop an HTML Widget from the Sidebar on the right onto your page (the icon for this is a blue sphere).
5. An HTML Editor will open up that will allow you to write or paste your code (use right-click > paste or ctrl-V to paste).
6. When you are done, click "Save" and you will see the way that the HTML displays on your page.

For detailed information on using PayPal, please view PayPal's Website Payments Standard Integration Guide PDF (5.8mb PDF): https://cms.paypal.com/cms_content/US....

Hope this helps!

Hey Justine

"What you talkin bout Willis?" LOL (Maybe you are too young for that TV quote)

I am the Paypal king (maybe a prince) and sadly Paypal will only accept payment in the following currencies:

Canadian Dollar
Euro
British Pound
U.S. Dollar
Japanese Yen
Australian Dollar
New Zealand Dollar
Swiss Franc
Hong Kong Dollar
Singapore Dollar
Swedish Krona
Danish Krone
Polish Zloty
Norwegian Krone
Hungarian Forint
Czech Koruna
Israeli New Shekel
Mexican Peso
Brazilian Real (only for Brazilian members)
Malaysian Ringgit (only for Malaysian members)
Philippine Peso
New Taiwan Dollar
Thai Baht
Turkish Lira (only for Turkish members

https://www.paypal.com/us/cgi-bin/?cm...

Usually, I am the first to point out one of my many Paypal threads to add a "Buy now" or "Add to cart" button for such inquiries but in this case I had to refer her to a non Paypal option that will accept ZAR (SA) currency as Paypal does not.

Paypal supports websites with their features on them in South Africa but does not support their currency.

Hi Ed,

Thanks for clarifying that! I am aware that PayPal is available in South Africa via First National Bank. This link may also be helpful to Roxy in terms of using PayPal in South Africa: https://www.paypal.com/za.

It seems silly (and unfair) that First National will transfer the accepted Paypal 24 currencies into ZAR but Paypal will not accept the ZAR. With how quickly SA is/has been becoming a global player it seems time to get at least one African currency somewhere on the list.

I mean, there must be hundreds of thousands of websites throughout SA that have a Paypal feature on them and the website owners are forced to use an alternate currency than their own then try to figure out how to (A) get their customers to pay them in dollars (or another) and (B) find a way to transfer that dollar into money that they can use. Nice that they have (B) sorted out but (A) is needed more I think. ;)

I definitely agree, Ed. Hopefully PayPal will change this at some stage. Thanks for your awesome feedback!
