My customers need to send information to personalise each product they buy. How can I set this up, would it have to be on paypal, or using the forms widget? Thanks

Hello, Karen!
I think you better use forms, your customers need what, they submit your form. And wait for you to answer and sell.

Mai, thanks!

Karen,

That's a really interesting point. I don't have any personalised products in any of the catalogues I have produced but your need is not unique. I can only look around and see what others are doing or what other developers have produced. If I find anything (free or otherwise) I'll answer back to here.

Thanks for highlighting this need as well.

Karen I have found lots but they are all shopping carts. These nowadays are reasonable in cost and the terms vary considerably. They all offer good to very good support and most have a free trial period. They are generally easier to implement than the advanced PayPal facilities but still a bit of learning. Maybe you will see something inspiring and affordable. Wishing you good learning!

I'll have a look through the sites you suggest, I'm new to all of this, can they be added into the site I'm building on yola?

Many shopping carts can be added to Yola if they don't require asp or php. there are a number of these. I hadn't checked that out in the list I gave you (Bad me). The last one would work as that is able to be added to sagepay another of the payment gateways like PayPal.

The carts that can be added are like a sideline program. You configure it then you add the html code to your Yola. It then drags the system in and displays your products and includes your payment gateways etc. They are like a complete package plug-in.

Possibly the most satisfactory for Yola is Ecwid. http://ecwid.com. It is free if you have less than 100 products then a monthly fee for more than 100 up to 20,000 products. They allow personalisation by the customer uploading a file or details at checkout. the advantage of this is that you get your money as you normally would at the order time. You can use a wide range of payment gateways and shipping options. They have a specific instruction for including their facility on Yola sites. I have used them and it is really excellent. The instructions are presented as a video then an extensive knowledge base and forum.
