Photo Gallery not displaying correctly

For a couple of weeks I have been having real problems adding photos to my site. I've done everything the same as before but the galleries now only display in the tiled feature and just show empty place markers with the other three display options. I have tried deleting the gallery and re-posting but still the same result. I have three more galleries to post but getting frustrated at this problem so have held them back at the moment.

Can you please tell me why this is happening urgently.

Hi John,

Could you also please share the names of the image files you're using in the the Picture Gallery Widget that is not working?

Also, what browser and version are you using?

I have already given you the link to the page concerned. I initially told you the problem. Have you even looked at the page? If you had you would see the images that I am referring to and the file name of every image is shown on the gallery.

I'm no website expert (which is why I'm using Yola in the first place) but even I know this.

I get a reply every 24 hours which just drags the whole saga on longer and longer. I'm starting to feel that all you are doing is fobbing me off with silly questions instead of actually trying to solve the problem I'm having.

Please find a solution instead of wasting my time with more pointless questions.

I have tried Opera, IE8 and Firefox all on an XP machine. Have also tried it at home and at work. Same result each time.

Still frustrated.

Hello John,

I did look at the page. I am also seeing the issue but you have so many images in your Picture Gallery Widget, and the names are not loading up for me in your Gallery Widget. This is why I asked if you could please provide me with the names so that I can have a look at the images in your File Manager to see if I can ascertain the issue.

I certainly do understand your frustration and would like to try my best to have this resolved. I hope we can work together to address this.

Firstly, I have just 12 images in the gallery widget we are talking about - that doesn't seem that many to me.

Secondly, surely all you need to do is hover over the image in preview mode or live on the website and you can see the file name? If you can't perhaps you need to contact Yola support to find out why you can't see the names as I can.

You don't appear to be trying very hard to resolve this issue. Are you looking at it with a view to sorting out the problem or just with the sole intention of annoying me even more?

I am really unhappy about the level of support I am receiving. To save you the trouble of doing a thorough job here are the file names:

P1000667(1)
P1000671(1)
P1000677(1)
P1000692(1)
P1000707(1)
P1000712(1)
P1000720(1)
P1000730(1)
P1000750(1)
P1000763(1)
P1000770(1)
P1000775(1)

Can you either now resolve the problem or let me know what to do next or who to contact.

Hello John,

I would just like to say that Sanja is the most knowledgeable person in the support team regarding HTML CSS and other things. I have seen her persist at problems for extremely extended periods. Of all the Support people I think that Sanja has the greatest level of professionalism because she will walk a hundred miles in supporting a customer through all the sub-services offered by Yola and just sees it as her responsibility. She is constantly learning which doesn't come easily when you have multiple responsibilities and trying to be innovative, efficient, reassuring and accommodating.

Sometimes it really is difficult to get into another persons understanding of an issue and it appears frequently where someone misses the point for a number of interactions then another person sees it in a flash. I really don't think that anyone can be blamed for not quite getting the jist of a situation and she is a person who is obviously trying to help.

Yola have a policy of responding to queries in a specified time frame. If there are multiple interactions then this process can take a long time which I certainly have criticisms of but that's the limitation.

Hi Gop

Your comments are noted and I'm sure Sanja is very good at what she does but to be honest I'm struggling to see what else I could do to make things any clearer.

Please see the resolution provided below by Nazlie which has solved the problem

Hello John

Sorry to hear that you are unhappy with the level of support you are receiving on this thread. I am sure that it was not Sanja's intention to do so. As she mentioned, there are many pictures on the page and, from what I understand, she was unclear as to which pictures you were referring.

I have taken a look at your webpage and I may be able to help. I see that the 12 pictures you are referring to, is at the top of the page. As you've said, these are only showing up in the tiled view (see screen shot below) and I'm sure that you would like to have the rounded corners as all the other picture galleries have that layout.

As I mentioned on this forum thread, please change the file names to exclude brackets or other special characters. For example, change this file name from P1000667(1).jpg to P1000667.jpg. You will then need to re-add the pictures, but you should be able to use other picture gallery layouts then.

I tested this on one of my test sites and this is what it looks like:

I hope that helps. Let us know if you are still unable to change the layout.

Thank you
Nazlie

Hi Nazlie

Many thanks - this has resolved the problem straight away. Your clear response is appreciated.

As I've said to Gop (see above) I'm sure Sanja is perfectly capable but I am at a loss as to what else I could have said to make things any clearer.

Thanks again for your help.

Regards

John

Hi John

I'm happy to hear that it was resolved! :)

If you find that your explanation is getting lost on us, it is often helpful to add screen shots, as I have done above. Then we have a clearer idea of what you are seeing and what is not working.

Happy Holidays!
