photo slideshow HTML

How do I customize HTML for a slideshow to show my pictures from the filemanager of site builder?
I got the code from the yolatestsite and am very excited about it :-)
The code is several of these for the various demo pics

fadeimages[0]=["http://yolacodes.yolasite.com/resourc... Landscape.jpg", "", ""] //plain image syntax

If for example, I have uploaded image020.jpg into file manager, how do I point the code to it?

Thanks!

Hello Karen, dickson.slp

What you would need to do is change the path to your image. So if your image file is "image020.jpg", then your path would look something like this:

http://yoursite.yolasite.com/resource...

I hope this answers your question. Please let me know if it does not.

Thanks :-)
I haven't published my new site yet but it will be on a custom domain (transferring from another host)
www.crossroadsoffaith.org

so I would enter http://www.crossroadsoffaith.org/reso...

correct? or without the www part?

I want to make sure since I don't know a lot about HTML stuff

You all at Yola are fantastic!!!
Thanks

my new site is live and I can't get the slideshow html to work correctly
the code is fadeimages[0]=["http://yolacodes.yolasite.com/resourc... Landscape.jpg", "", ""] //plain image syntax

I entered the changes to the code
fadeimages[0]=["http://www.crossroadsoffaith.org/reso..., "", ""] //plain image syntax

when I click save, it tells me there's an error with the code. I do not know what the error is or how to fix it.

Can you please help me?

Also, what if the pics are in a folder within file manager? For example I have a folder COF_Pics

Thanks for your help!

you do need to add the folder name as well. At the top of the file manager you should be able to see the whole url to your file.

Hi karen.dickson.slp

Diane is correct. If you have a folder, you do need to include this. Please also note that URLS are case sensitive. So, you will need to ensure that what you're typing out looks exactly as what you have in the File Manager.

Please let us know if you still have trouble getting your slideshow to work.

Thanks for all your help so far. I now have it so it doesn't tell me there's an error; but, now it won't display anything but a red x in the preview. The files are uploaded and everything is spelled correctly and upper/lower case letters are exact.

my code reads:
fadeimages[0]=["http://crossroadsoffaith.org/resource..., ", ""] //plain image syntax
fadeimages[1]=["http://crossroadsoffaith.org/resource..., ", ""] //plain image syntax
fadeimages[2]=["http://crossroadsoffaith.org/resource..., ", ""] //plain image syntax
fadeimages[3]=["http://crossroadsoffaith.org/resource..., ", ""] //plain image syntax

anything you have to suggest will be appreciated!!

Karen, your reply is not showing on the forum but I know you did because I got an email. I suspect the problem is because you have not published your site yet--the urls you are using show the whole site address so that is where the browser is looking for them, but you haven't published yet. Try publishing and see if that helps; you can always unpublish later. Hope this helps.

My site did get published on Sunday, which is when I really started trying to get the code to work.
my previous reply included how I have the code:

fadeimages[0]=["http://crossroadsoffaith.org/resource..., ", ""] //plain image syntax
fadeimages[1]=["http://crossroadsoffaith.org/resource..., ", ""] //plain image syntax
fadeimages[2]=["http://crossroadsoffaith.org/resource..., ", ""] //plain image syntax
fadeimages[3]=["http://crossroadsoffaith.org/resource..., ", ""] //plain image syntax

but all that was showing up was a red x after I published.

Thanks for keeping in touch with me and my code issues!

Hello Karen

I have taken the liberty to fix this up for you. The reason why it was not working was because you had a comma after the image file URL when it should have been quotation marks.

You'll notice though that a couple of your images do not seem to fit. I would suggest resizing them.

Yola has integrated with a powerful image editor called Picnik. You can use this program to resize your pictures:

1. Click on the "File Manager" button.
2. In the File Manager, highlight the picture you want to resize and click "Edit Picture".
3. Picnik will load (it may take a while, so you will have to be patient).
4. Once your picture has loaded, click on the "Resize" button (just below the "Edit" tab).
5. When you are happy with the dimensions, click the yellow "save to Yola" button in the top right hand corner.

This will take you back to Yola. If the picture on your page is still too big, you might have to click the "Refresh Page" button. The new picture will then show up on your page.

If you need any further assistance, please let us know.

I'm trying this same thing, but don't know the path of my photos. If i go to file manager, I see the photos in the root For example, I have a picture in the root called large3, in jpg format. I got to the url in my browser, and it says not found.
http://sunnahpants.com/resources/larg...
.
Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Your reference path is correct:
website_address/resources/file_name.ext for an image in the root folder.

if it was in a sub-folder then you would need to add another element to the path:
website_address/resources/folder_name/file_name.ext
