Hello stonesings,

There hasn't been an announcement on the replacement of the integrated image editing.

There are a number of excellent and free download programs that users are recommending.

paint.net, gimp. are two that have high recommendations. The outcome is far superior to the integrated approaches and they are relatively easy to use.

Hello stonesings

It's still a secret, but be assured that there will be a substitute by 19 April when Picnik closes down.

Very cool and exciting. I do use other sites, but for last minute touch up etc, I like to have one on site to use. Can wait for the updates. If better, I will use the new one alot more. One thing I did not like about Piknik is it took its time loading.

It would be great if when you clicked on Edit then the image opened in your preferred resident or online image manipulation program. Sort of like setting windows preference for opening various files. ??

We are excited to announce our new partnership with Aviary in order to bring you a new way to edit your photos.

Aviary is powerful and easy to use. With it you'll find all the features you loved about Picnik, in a slick, new interface. Add text, crop, rotate and adjust your photos, all within the Sitebuilder. This makes the editing process simple and easy! Please follow these steps to edit your pictures:

On the picture that you wish to edit, click on "Edit" on the top-left corner of your Picture Widget. A dialog box will open up. Click on the "Edit With Aviary" button and you will go through to the photo editing dialog box.

OR

Locate your image in the File Manager. Hover over the image and click on the "pencil" icon at the bottom left corner of your image. Alternatively, you can right-click on the picture and select "Edit with Aviary". Both options will take you through to the photo editing dialog box.

Once Aviary is open, use their picture editing tools to adjust your image. You can choose to crop, color, resize, etc. When you've finished editing your picture in Aviary, click on "Apply". Then click on the "Save" button and this will replace your original image in your File Manager.

Great stuff !!!

I've been using paint.net which is excellent, for editing on the desktop then uploading again. I'll probably still use it in the first instance, but then use Aviary to change things on site.

This should make things much easier and quicker
