Pictures

I want to put thumbnail pictures, with the title and price of each across the page next to each other. Is this possible? All my trials, so far have only allowed me to place them underneath each other.
Also, my pictures are currently over 1mb each. I want to reduce them, but, so they keep their high quality. Am I better to reduce them to a thumbnail size, or to a normal size which would appear on the linked picure?
I want them to initially appear as thumbnails on one page then when they are clicked on I want them to get bigger. I have read your advice on 'thumbnails' but it would appear I can only use the link widget when linking text and not images.

Hi Candeez

If you drop a text widget on your page and then click "insert image" you can add images in a row. You can turn the image into a link by highlighting it and then clicking "insert link" on the text editing toolbar.

You can resize your images using Picnik (fourth button from the left). Unfortunately when you decrease the file size you are going to lose some quality in your image. This is just one of the challenges of adding images to a website. If you have access to Photoshop, they offer a very useful "save for web" function that allows you to save your file to a size that will optimize both quality and download speed. You should make sure that both the thumbnail and the larger version of the image are web friendly if at all possible.

I hope this answers your questions. Please get back to me if you are still unclear.

Monique

Hi Candeez,

You may find elements of this tutorial useful in terms of image weight - http://www.synthasite.com/support/tut... (scroll down to the sections titled "Understanding Images" and "Smaller Is Better"). A more in-depth tutorial should be available in the next day or so.

Good luck with your site,
Tracy
