Pictures are huge when I try to view website. I cropped them and so they are not the original proportion. What could've gone wrong/how do I fix this?

Hello Joanna

Yola has integrated with a powerful image editor called Picnik. You can use this program to resize your image:

1) Click on "manage files".

2) In the file manager, highlight the picture you want to resize. Then click "Edit Image" (right next to the "Upload files" button)

3) Picnik will load (it may take a while, so you will have to be patient).

4) Once your photo is loaded, click on the "resize" button (just below the "Edit" tab). Make sure that you sure you click "Keep Proportions"

5) When you are happy with the dimensions, click the yellow "save to Yola" button in the top right hand corner.

This will take you back to Yola. If the image on your page is still too big, you might have to click the "refresh page" button. The new image will then show up on your page.

We also have some tutorials and other resources which will help you better decide how you would like to display images on your site.

Here is an overview of each resource:

1. Here is a link to a thread in our public Forum Get Satisfaction with information shared by two Yola employees on web friendly images: Web Friendly Images.

2. This tutorial will help you better understand some of the pieces that surround web friendly images, how to create them, and give you some excellent resources for helping you do this: Tutorial: Images & More.

3. This tutorial will step you through the process of creating a photo gallery using a few different options. A photo gallery with clickable thumbnails that open bigger images is a great way to display images when you have a few, as this technique keeps load time to a minimum: Photo Galleries, Portfolios & Presentations.

I hope these resources will help you better create web friendly images. Please let me know if you have any trouble with this.
