Hi all
While my site is being returned in Google search results, it is titled "Placeholder page" and no excerpt or short site description is displayed. Can anyone give me some advice on how to correct this? I have cleared my browser cache, deleted cookies etc so what else could I do?

Thanks!

could you give us an example url that goes to a placeholder.
Are you using a custom domain?

The description can be added to by adding a window title, keywords and content to the page.

Perhaps they have a old sitemap - try adding a new sitemap to your webmaster account.

I could help more just let me know some specific URL's.

Hi 1confusedblugger

The most likely reason for this is that the first time Google crawled your site, your DNS settings had not propogated through the internet yet. If I remember correctly you only published to your domain quite recently?

So when the Google bots crawled your site they "saw" a placeholder page. The next time Google crawls your site it will see a functioning website and the Google search index will be updated accordingly.

All you can do is sit back and wait. Let us know if this hasn't resolved itself in a week or two. It is frustrating to wait, but not at all unusual for a new site.

Hi Monique

You have a great memory! I did indeed only publish a few days ago so i guess I will just have to wait a bit longer.

Thank you for clearing that up.

Great. Let us know how it goes. Hopefully Google will recrawl your site soon.
