I would appreciate it if anyone would comment on my first web site.
As you will see the site is purely my thoughts on fishing.

Hi Boomer
I have been looking at your website and ran the "Website Grader" program
It looks very good ( I think )
Would it be possible for you to run www.alternative-angling.com through it and give me your recommendations.

Hi Steve!

It's obvious where your passion lies! =) I found myself quite interested in what you had to share.

Here are my suggestions. Please use only what you feel is in line with your vision for your site.

1. I would create a really nice banner to grab the readers' attention. You have a nice one with about 5 fish pictures in a row... this could make a nice banner on top!

2. Perhaps you could consider making your menu links have a hover color so that it's more obvious that it's not just part of your text.

3. I would make a separate contact page - it gets lost in the midst of your content on your home page - or else make it more obvious. The same goes for your guestbook.

4. It would be a nice added touch if you could include on images on your other pages. For example, perhaps a picture of a lake on your "arriving at the water" page. Maybe on the bait page, to include some pictures of what these baits may look like (not I particularly want to see a picture of maggots =D) These images just help to bring in a visual element to your page.

You have a knack for writing in a straight-forward, easy going manner that keeps the reader interested in what you have to say.

Another thought that just came to me is to add a "weather" widget on that page where you talk about the weather - I think it's on the "before you leave home". That would be kinda neat!

Anyway.. a good start Steve! Please feel free to ask me any questions. =)

Hey there Steve3333,

Very cool! I come from a fishing family, so I like the topic for sure, and the name Alternative Angling, very catchy!

There are lots and lots of people out there looking for information on various fishing topics that you can be targeting as your potential site visitors. I would suggest you take a look at our SEO Tutorials, you are going to find a lot of information, just read it little by little. I think a topic like yours has huge potential for being found for lots of various terms in the search engines. Here is a link: SEO Tutorials.

Good luck with your site!

Hi Steve,

Website grader is a handy tool but isn't the end all and be all. I use it more for finding out what is "missing" on my sites. I ran your site through the website grader and you seem to have done everything correctly. I see your meta Description, keywords and that Google has already crawled your website.
Here's another tool that I have used in the past for notifying the other search engines:
http://www.sitemapwriter.com/notify.php

I am by no means an SEO expert, but here are I few things I would work on.

Inbound Links: 21
One of the most important measures for a website is how many other sites link to it.

Contact form:
I would definitely recommend one. Out there on the World Wide Web, there are nasty little programs known as "spambots". All these little spider programs do is crawl around the web, searching for email addresses embedded in web pages.
This may not increase your rankings with any search engine, it will however give
you a slightly better score with the Website Grader.
A form looks far more professional and is very simple to impliment on your site.
The one I'm favouring at the moment is JotForm. http://jotform.com/
See my forms here: http://helderberg.cc/ Others you could use are Wufoo and FormAssembly. There are links to them from the site builder.

Other than that, is do some searching and reading up on SEO.
Emmy, one of the super star reps, has compiled a four part tutorial here:

Good luck!
