Both sites look fantastic! The only minor thing that I noticed is on your krooclub.com. Under the title: krooclub:Home, there is another "home" word under that. I don't know if that is intended to be there. I wasn't sure if that was to indicate that your photo is where home is? If that was the intent, I suggest putting the word "home" below or above or even right beside your picture. Maybe say "my home".

One more thing... I would suggest putting a bit more space between the blog and the sidebar. This helps to make things visually easier to access and read. You can do this by inserting a two-column layout in that spot and then re-insert your blog widgets into the far right column. I hope that helps!

That's exactly what I want "littleus". As Ed has said previously, you see your own work everyday and becomes like a skin. Great to have another set of eyes. Keep the reviews coming if you think of anything more

Thank you "littleus",

How is your site coming along? Would love to see it when it's published.

The "home" word next to the banner is a thorn in my side. It comes mysteriously from the banner movie and I guess until I'm not a cheap skate and purchase the full version I just try and ignore it. Maybe I should remove the "Home" from the sub-title or type it in Thai?

Once again thanks for your time.

Thanks for the feedback and your efforts Rich,

The movies' banner is the limiting aspect. There are parameters within the code to manipulate height etc. but I can't seem to get it to increase in height without increasing in width.

I tried to embed the "Google Friend Connect Bar" at the top of the page but it covered the menu line so that wasn't a solution.

If you can think of anything please don't hesitate to bring it on.

OK,

The banner movie seems to be the item that prevents me from using the space above. I have tried to increase the height of the banner but it doesn't help effectively.

I then tried to put the Google Friend Connect Bar, which you can see at the bottom of the page, up at the top. Unfortunately the Goggle Bar covers the Krooclub main menu.

I can't think of anyhting to reduce the space and I agree with you, it is a waste of space.

If you have any suggestions I would really like to hear them.

Hey Peter,

After all the unselfish help you give everyone online, and in a very eloquent
manner if I may say so, it is great that you are finally sharing your sites
with us.

I think they are both fantastic sites - no criticism from me.

P.S If you want to get rid of the "slide advertisment" at the bottom
of the slide show let me know ;)

The only code you need to "embed" the slide show on your page is
the code between, and INCLUDING, the <!-- <embed ....../<embed> -->

This will get rid of the annoying ad banner at the bottom,
but not within the slide show.

Save the code first before deleting any of it, and I'm sure I
don't have to tell you to try it on a test page first and to
leave out the <!-- and the -->

Oops,

Got confused in my threads,

The top banner on Sribuaban is a static element. If you reduce the height you have a white background. If you increase the width the side bars simply cut-off the excess. The top banner is quite inflexible from that perspective

Hi Lee,

You know that is really interesting.

Firstly the answer is no. The banner dimensions are locked by the template "Swankey", the side bars are locked. I worked to find an image that melded as much as possible into the colours of the banner edge. I almost got there and others said No it's OK. (Thai: Mai pen rai) It doesn't matter. I gave in and now the pragmatist comes in and tells the truth.

I'll keep on working on it and hey thank you for being direct on this. More tutorials with Photoshop....... bugger!

just to note i was talking about http://sribuaban.synthasite.com/

Does picnik take so long direct from there site (not through synthasite) ?
Try to resize it to 900x261 - can you turn off the ratio aspect in photoshop? i'm sure you know what your doing - good luck bro.

Rich,

What have you done to my slide movie?

In fact I've had people today here in thailand who are saying the same. I'll have to check the version of flash I think. I'm using Chrome although I have IE, fox and safari.

I would really like better news from you next post. Like you can hear it in 7 channel stereo with superscope video, lay back lounges, waitresses and a comment like it deserves an Oscar. Something like that would make me happy.

I don't think so.

Littleus solved her problem but Rich still can't work his out. There were two other users today I spoke to who couldn't see it. One an ADSL line subscriber the other dialup

I have no idea how flash works and no way of helping them. If you have anything please let me know.

Hi again Ruth,

Rich now has his solution. Allowing an exception through his firewall. That's given me a good clue so I'll suggest this to other users if they report it.

Maybe today was a coincidence?

Thank you

Pete, try figure out first what program or services need to be on exception to run that file. actually pete i only had problem on your .swf file, i do have .swf file and its run on me and works fine with my firewall, i only have issue on your file or i think theres something wrong on the code which my firewall blocking it.

Just want to add here, Rich.

If you didn't see the movie here in GS, it has to be something on your side.
The code I used to link Peters .swf file is standard code provided by GS.

If you click on the " (Some HTML allowed) " in the reply box below you will see the standard "Flash Embed" code I used. All I did was substitute Peter's .swf file in place of the youtube one. That code should run on any machine!

Hi Boomer thanks for additional information.

I look at the code you posted here, even u substitute peters .swf u still use this link to access on the file:

resources/Banners/krooclubflashintro.swf. (which my firewall keep blocking it) thats why i still cant see the file you posted here.

i think the best way to stop this happening is to edit manually krooclubflashintro.swf.

Yes Rich,

But isn't it strange that every one else can see the movie except you?
It isn't possible, as far as I know, to edit a .swf file, you can only change
the way it is displayed. (Width, Height etc.) It's a bit like using a different
music player to play a mp3 file. You can't edit the .mp3 file itself.
You can record a new mp3, yes, but you can't physically edit the mp3.

No, boom im not the only one having this issue, Peter already said that someone also reported to him that they having the same problem as i.

and thanks for pointing that imposible to edit the .swf yes, your right, i think the best word i used is to "remake".=)

Rich,

I would like to make this very easy for people so thank you for persisting with this.

Would you know what code or kind of code I would have to change to allow all users easy access to the flash movie?

If it's a matter of people allowing swf files to be read into their machines I can't see that I can do anything. There is no security function on the banner movie creator so it must be some sort of default situation if it's associated with the swf file or an update in security with browsers or an older flash player version.

Ohhh the brain still hurts on these issues. You're a champ.

Boomer,

Do you know then of any facility that allows you to check whether or not an individuals machine can read an incoming *.swf file. I guess another way of asking the question is: Why would an swf file be treated as suspicious compared to other types of files and why are some sites treated with caution when it comes to downloading these files compared to others?

I find it curious that an *.swf file labelled http://krooclub.com/resources/Banners... is identified as suspicious on a few machines only. (Unless the word has already got out that is :)

i use flash on my site - this is the code

<!--<object classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" codebase="http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/pub/..." width="480" height="60"> <param name="movie" value="resources/mainsiteadvert.swf" /> <param name="quality" value="high" /> <param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always" /> <embed src="resources/mainsiteadvert.swf" quality="high" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="480" height="60" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflash..." allowScriptAccess="always" /> </object> -->

it seems alot shorter than yours -- i wonder if the same problem happens using this code (i.e. if the firewall in question blocks my flash)

And this code is even shorter, and works in GS.

<!--
<object width="730" height="250">

<param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param>
<embed src="http://krooclub.com/resources/Banners..." type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="730" height="250"></embed>
</object>

I don't see why you need so much code "overhead" just to display a movie?

Thanks blokes,

That's generous.

I will change the code in the daylight hours. Can't trust my concentration at this time.

I don't know either Boomer. There aren't many other features I remember so maybe it's simply redundant code by lazy developers ?? I was lazy too I simply copied and pasted it. :)

Hi Peter

This thread has run on a bit and I am late to the party. I just wanted to say I am really impressed with how innovative your sites are. I love the Google Translate widget!

The mouse over buttons on your Sribuaban site bring back memories. . .You seem to have gotten them working really well! I know they had me scratching my head, so very nice work indeed.

Really fantastic work! I know how much time has gone into this and I am totally excited to see how far your sites have come.
