I've been working hard at improving my home page. What I'm especially proud of are my buttons and my mailing form. I was able to customize my mailing form to blend with my site. Tell me what you think?! Also.. do you like the picture widget or do you find that distracting? This is a pretty cool widget as it takes pictures from my blog!

Here's my site: http://littleus.synthasite.com

well it looks great!

heres a few things i would change though,

1) the slideshow takes a long time to load.

2) i would add some images to your homepage like a logo and stuff, just to make it look more freindly,

but over all a realy good site!

Thanks for you comments Alex. I plan to make a logo or even just a customized banner sometime in the near future. I didn't realize that the slideshow took awhile to load up.. that may be something I'll have to reconsider.

Hi littleus,

Your site is great!

The buttons are perfect and function well. no delay in rollover image coming up.

Your form blends perfectly and doesn't even appear to be an insert at all.

The widget doesn't detract from your page and the idea of pulling images from your blog is brilliant, a preview!

I think orderliness is very important to you and you've achieved that with your efforts.

It's rare to see a page that is so exactly true and your is. Congrats littleus

Thanks Peter! Did you experience the same problem as Alex though concerning the widget taking a long time to load up?

No delay. The timer thingy spun around for maybe two or three seconds only. I bet that is quite variable as are flash movies.

littleus av managed to download the jalbum software, av uploaded the album, and i copied the html code and pasted it on my site, but it only give me the link, as in i have to click on the link which takes me to another page with the pictures, how do i make it appear on my webpage with the skin?

Hi Riya

Thanks for being so patient.

With the JAlbum, if you want the photo gallery to show up in your website as if it's part of it, then you need to put it into an iframe code. Here it is:

<!--<iframe src="PUT YOUR JALBUM LINK HERE" width=575 height=500 frameborder="0">-->

You can adjust the height and width to your liking but a word of caution, try to leave it as big as you can. Otherwise, it won't look seamless and a scroll bar will show up to accomodate your pictures.

Be sure to take out the <!-- -->

I hope that helps! Let me know if you have any more questions.

It is wonderful! I know how hard you have worked on this and it paid off. I did not experience any slow loading of the photo gallery or the widget on my end either. I will be sure to come back and glean from this post. Congrats!

If you're referring to my menu - each button was created with a button generator. I used www.cooltext.com. After downloading the image, then I uploaded to my file manager. Be sure to copy the code that cooltext gives you and paste into your html. Redirect the path to where your image is found.

I need some major site creator training... for starters... the site on this thread has a great appearance and good first impression (the look on the page isn't even available in the templates - how do you do this?) - and how did you put that widget underneath the menu bar? I can only do it where it says drag content here! And I've seen some other examples of synthasite/yola sites that I don't understand how they did it. Anyone wanna give me some site creator tutoring? Teach me some of the things that are not obvious?

Hi Donald.

I'll try to address everything as best as I can.

The look on the page
- This is part of the Yola templates. The reason why it look slightly different is probably because I took out the menu tabs which are usually across the top and hid them. Then, I made button links to each corresponding page.

Placement of widgets:
This is done by changing your layout options. You can choose one column, two columns, 3 columns, etc... You can also drag the 2-column widget found on your right hand side under Content, into your main area. This is my preferred method. You can drag as many as you want. Then, in the column you want, you drag your html widget and place your code in there.

If you need further help.. please do let me know. I am not going into great detail as I don't want to overwhelm you. So, please do ask for specifics if you want.

LOL Sorry Ruth but you were so eloquent and so very right so I had to piggyback on your comment. I am quite impressed with your site and how you pulled everything together. It is nice to see when everything fits and is placed where it should be. All in all an A++ from the Honey Bear...

After seeing a site like yours I am so happy that I posted cooltext all those 8 months ago. I enjoyed my custom vertical menu using their buttons until I created my custom floating bee imagemap menu... I do kinda miss the buttons sometime though because they were so shiny... ;)

Happy site building
