Hi Guys

I bought my domain name at Go Daddy and now want to point it at yola, but unfortunately the yola tutorial for this is now quite old and the Go Daddy website has been updated, which kind of makes the tutorial ummmm not very good anymore.

Can someone help me out with this? I remember doing this years ago just before yola changed from synthasite and it was quite a nightmare to do back then...I'd be grateful for any help!!

Hello Kenny

There you aren't in the right section because domain pointing for Yola doesn't work with nameservers.

Please follow these steps:
  1. Log into your GoDaddy account.

  2. In the menu bar, hover over your name and click on "Visit my account".

  3. In the "Products" tab, click on "Domains". Your domains will be listed.

  4. Click on the "Launch" button next to the domain you'd like to point to Yola.

  5. Click on the "DNS Zone File" tab.

  6. Click on the "Edit" button.

  7. The first section you can see is named "A (Host)". In the line with the "@" character, move your mouse into the cell of the "Points To" column.

  8. You will see a pencil icon. Click it to edit the IP address of this cell.

  9. Enter our IP address. You have now set the @ A record to the IP address of Yola.

  10. Then have a look at the CNAME (Alias) section. Make sure that there is a CNAME with the host "www" and it points to "@". This configures the www A record for Yola.

  11. Click on the "Save Zone File" button on the top right.

Your domain should now point to Yola. Please note that it can take up to 48 hours for domain pointing to become effective, which is beyond our control. You can check if your domain is already available for your Yola account by following steps 8 or 9 respectively of our tutorial Configuring your GoDaddy domain.
