Position objects, images or features to the left or right of your style's borders to make your website a little wider... A Honey Bear Playhomes tip...

Been getting emails on how I do this or that and this one keeps coming up so it deserves a thread of its own. ;)

You might notice that I have the left and right sides of the screen filled with trees, menu, beehive and at times other images and features. It really is quite simple to do and if done right can really stretch out your style's width. Currently, I am using the "Squared glass" style with a set 880px width and by using the below script was able to position objects outside of that to fully utilize all the space that I could.

Click on any of the below images to enlarge it.

Use one line for each image. Below I have coded the locations for 4 images. Simply change the names and position variables to build outside the style so to speak...

Please note that I have a tree branch which overhangs a little and for those viewing the site on a smaller resolution screen covers some of the site's content. In my case I designed my site for the larger screens so this is not an issue for me but might be for you. I recommend limiting the image sizes to about 200px wide. This will most likely keep it off your content on the smaller screens.

Happy site building
Ed

While my feet are pointing forward and my lungs are still breathing I still have more to get out... (cough, cough ;) Shame though... wish more people who use them would post their uses on the tips thread that they found them in. Be nice to see what others did with those tips.
