Is it possible to add shipping costs for each individual item rather then collectively

example : item 1 free UK Post + £6.99 international
item 2 UK Post £7 + £45 international
item 3 UK Post £3 + £9.99 European + £25 international

Hope that makes sense, any help appreciated

Hello mike,

I'm not sure if you are using the Yola/Ecwid Online Store or another process?

It is possible to setup individual shipping cost per each product using the Yola/Ecwid Online Store. See Catalog -> Products -> a product page -> Tax&Shipping tab. This will be displayed after the system has obtained the buyers address. If you are using Yola/Ecwid Online Store postage is most effectively calculated for the sum of the weights at least, because of the advantage of more costs less per item in a consolidated shipping. If you're in the UK then RM postage is calculated using the parcel dimensions as well. It becomes quite complex adding items to the parcel as dimensions of the final wrapped parcel must be included.

For the smoother operation, you need to include an estimate of shipping per region as the final cost unless your customers are prepared to wait for you to calculate exact shipping costs which they are unlikely to do. This is the Royal Mail system and isn't automated for the Online Store. There is no easy solution for Royal Mail at this time, it is easier to use a logistics company for international shipping as you can plug into their API and the cost will be calculated automatically and displayed before the sale is completed....for a price! I agree that neither of these are ideal.

There isn't an automatic way to display the cost of shipping with the item description based on the destination calculated by shipping method but you could use the Product Options facility allowing the user to select their region as the option: How to add product options to your products. This still wouldn't allow estimate based on multiple product selections.

Normally the shipping costs are displayed after the address of the seller is obtained from the payment gateway dialogue. It would be a nice feature to have with the Online Store, similar to Ebay type item descriptions of shipping.

If on the other hand you are pricing your parcels individually and using a custom ad hoc system or PayPal widgets for example, then you do run the risk of blowing out the shipping costs for multiple items and this has the likely affect of turning off your potential customers because of very expensive shipping. The only way to include this within such a setup is to create the same article with shipping as separate sales items. A way to overcome this is to ship for free which I notice you have alerted to in your first example.and include the postage costs within the article price, for local shipping. International shipping is a little more problematic but less of a turnoff. I do a significant number of purchases from China and they are generally sent either by HK Post, China Mail or China EMS and most of the sellers include free Intl shipping with tracking. I think this is driving the free shipping incentive internationaly

The item of increasing shipping costs is becoming more and more an unpalatable cost for customers and can be the clincher/breaker on a sale.
