Preview page border, WHY ?

Ok so i've purposely been AWOL for a week to take a break because too many things were just going wrong, well, I come back and find nothing has changed for me :(

I decided to 'give it a another go" and so I did a little and then decided to 'preview' my page, what on earth and why is there now a white border around the preview of my page? Is this something new? Is this ACTUALLY how people are going to see my page with white border around it and an empty space of about 1cm (1/2") both left and right of the border :( I really hope not because I specifically chose a black template (banner/background) for my theme and this white border looks hideous!! Last time I remember previewing my entire screen was taken up by my page, no border. Please help.

Also I see I still have the problem of the words 'ADD AN IMAGE' and (Some HTML allowed) stuck in the middle of where I am trying to type this and I cannot see behind it to see what I have written. Can someone please tell me the correct way to post a screenshot i've done? I was asked to provide this last time I was here but since i've not been back yet to do it.

Thank you

Hello there INDI,

I am sorry you are having this problem.

No, your site won't have the white border around it. It is just for the preview page so you can separate it from your sitebuilder.

You can add a screenshot to your GS post using the "Add an image" and then upload the image to your post.

I hope this helps.

Not sure if I should add the screenshot to this thread or go back and find my original thread/post from over a week ago or post on both.....nothing like being thorough....lol :)

see how I ALWAYS get that ADD AN IMAGE and other smaller print right in the middle of my text area :( when in the actual size it's not just annoying but frustrating because I simply cannot see what I have typed behind it and I could be making some seriously bad "typonese" there and not know it .....lol

Hello Indi- thank you for your message. I am sorry to hear that you are having these issues. I did try to replicate what you are seeing and did not have the 'add an image' or any other text appear on my screen. Can you do me a favor and try clearing your cache? Here are guidelines: Clear Cache. If this does help the problem you are having, please let us know!

Hi Brianna, clearing the cache is something I do religiously every night before shutting down. I've had this annoying text problem right from when I joined up it's just that now I post far more often it's really getting on my nerves :(

Thanks in advance

Hi Indi

This may have something to do with your computer or your browser. Can you please try using a friend's computer and see if you're still experiencing this issue? Also, please try using a different browser to see if this helps.

Please let us know how this goes.

Hi Sanja, I know a few weeks back and all my troubles you made a comment it could be my computer but Yola is the only place I have all these problems :( I don't really have access to another computer as such, well I do kind of if perhaps I try a computer in the library as I live out of town and so it's not like I can try that in the next 5 minutes, could be days before I go there. My mother has IE6 on her laptop so that doesn't help trying her puter. I'm wondering how much of my computer screen is going to be taken up by having another browser installed, I already inherited an extra task bar when I recently upgraded to IE8. I'll see what I can do as you know i'm reluctant to change.....lol.

Hi Indi,

The way this forum works is managed by Get Satisfaction themselves. Perhaps they would be able to help you with your problem about uploading images to the forum?

I can move this post to their side but it has questions about Yola - which may seem confusing. Perhaps you would like to repost on their side? This is the link: http://getsatisfaction.com/getsatisfa.... I think they would be able to help you with this problem faster than we could!

I just went and googled "firefox" found a download thingy for firefox 3.6.9, my question is - will this overwrite my IE8 or will it be an 'additional' browser I have up top of my puter task bar area ???? Thank you.

Hi Indi, If you are looking for Firefox you can find it here: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/
I hope this helps.

Hi there Indi,
No, it won't overwrite IE8 - it will just give you another browser to choose from. You should also be able to drag it into your task bar.

Thank you Jeremy, will give it a try....wish me luck, still having "freezing" problems when trying to X out of preview mode, music doesn't stop and egg timer remains, says Yola not responding so I have to kill the puter :(

Hi, I've only just now had time to do it although i'm a stubborn person and still like my IE....lol. So it seems FF is ok when I just tested doing a 'new topic' I didn't get the words in the middle of the text box, so 1 tick I guess.....I was a bit put off when I went to my site for the first time in FF and it's telling me I needed "additional plugins to view my site" ..sheeesh :( reluctantly I clicked and why oh why did it want me to get Adobe Flash 10 whatever when I already have it ???? I'm not liking all these red underlines of words, basically telling me I have bad 'typonese' cos being an Aussie I naturally spell differently, very off putting and distracting :(

I'll trial it but I prefer my IE and my main stubborness I guess is, again, a LOT of people use IE and not FF or the other browsers so is my site gonna look like crap ??? Does everyone here know that while they might be seeing some brilliant piece of website work that it is not how others are seeing it? Do you know where I am coming from?

Please, i'm not trying to be conflicting or argumentative at all, I appreciate all the help and patience i've been given here, it just makes me wonder how the rest of the world is seeing all these Yola sites in different browsers if they are as stubborn as me and as computer illiterate as me and stick with one thing and one thing only (me being IE).....

I am going to walk away again, I need to re-evaluate because deep down I'm not happy with continually experiencing so many problems one after the other.....

Thank you kind people for all your help :)

Hello Indi

You can disable the spell-check in your browser and/or add an Aussie dictionary if available. More information can be found here: http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/U...

As for Adobe Flash - there are different kinds of Adobe products. Could it be possible that the product that you have may not be the latest version of Flash but of something else? You can check to see if you have the latest version here: http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewC...

Personally, I enjoy having both FF and IE on my computer as this allows me to see what my site will look like in different browsers.

I hope that your perseverance and patience will reaps you big rewards in the end. I know that your journey has been a frustrating one.
