Problem - can't point to my Yola Bronze website using a 3rd party domain name.

Yola's description of the features of the Bronze package as well as the Silver includes the ability to point to an external Domain.
I've recently built a 'free' Yola site and published it using the Yola subdomain name, and then upgraded to your Bronze package so that I can point to it from an external Domain I had previously bought. I've followed the requirements at my Domain site to point to Yola and received confirmation from Yola that my Domain name is pointed at Yola. However, when I tried several times to enter my Domain name in the Yola section for using a domain name from an outside party all I get is the comment : Your domain is not pointed at Yola.
Please advise why I'm getting these contradictory messages from Yola which is preventing publishing my site.

Hello Peter,

I am sorry you are having this problem.

It seems you have 2 different A records on your domain.

One is pointing correctly to and the other (your non-www domain) is pointing to 3600 IN A

Can you please make sure both ate pointing to Yola's IP and then you will be able to publish your site to your domain.

I hope this helps.

Dear operator, I want to point my fasthosts domain name ( to my yola address. Please give me an idiots guide on how to do this as I'm a pure beginner. Your explanation says I need to create 2 'A' records, but I don't know what these are. Your help is much appreciated. G H

Hello Gus,

Your best advice on this is to contact Fasthost and ask them their procedure in pointing your domain to Yola's servers.

As mentioned it's important to have 2 A records set up, both pointed to he IP address: One is for the non-www. version and one for the www. version of your domain. All this is done on Fasthost's side and not on Yola's side.

You do need a hosting plan with Yola to be able to accept the pointed domain as well. It won't work without a hosting plan. This is most economically done by buying a subscription to Yola Bronze. (you may upgrade subsequently if you need to and this can be done easily and quickly)
