Problem with Disqus comments

Help! Has anyone else had the problem of Disqus comments suddenly disappearing? New comments and replies at my Yola blog appear in the Community thread but not below the post. Disqus said that a URL is somehow being appended to each new comment which knocks it off the page. They suggest a plug in is to blame.

The only thing I've installed recently is Klout. However, its installation (to Facebook, Twitter, etc) made no reference to Disqus. I've now uninstalled Klout. Disqus have offered me no further help except to refer me to a FAQ written in technical gibberish. As a non-techie, I can't understand it.

Disqus has worked well for me for three years. Now this! My blog is my retirement business. I can't afford to lose it. Can anybody out there help, conceivably for a fee, who knows how to handle Disqus code in a Yola environment?

The problem post is at:

(Disqus restored some of my comments but new ones are still vanishing.)

Hello John,

I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing this trouble with your comments. I suggest removing the comment code altogether and re-adding this. Your comments should remain intact.

I hope that might work for you.

Hello John,

You should be able to do this by going to your Blog Manager > Settings.

I hope that helps!

Well, Sanja, I've just deleted the Disqus code from my blog settings and clicked Done. I then copied the same code back again and clicked Done. And, when I previewed the page, all my 40 comments had vanished from that post!

Older posts seem unaffected, but who knows?

I haven't dared publish the site but will the comments come back to that post once I publish the post? Or have I lost them forever?

Hello John,

I don't know if your comments will return and I would be concerned as your comments as I have read are part of the essence of your specific blog.

May I suggest that you harvest your comments from your previously published site into discrete files or maybe just as a single file referencing the post title thread before the relative comment. If your comments don't return then you could amend the relevant posts with a link to the specific post comments. The post comments could be at the end of the page (or another page) with anchors to align the comment with the post.

Because Yola have deprecated the Yola Blog I think that your definitive answer will be through Disqus themselves rather than through Yola

Just for the record: the problem was traced to AWeber, the autoresponder that handles my emails. My emails contained links to my blog posts and every link I put in was massaged by AWeber, who put a suffix on the URL for tracking purposes. That suffix bollixed my Disqus comments. Since I disabled tracking at AWeber, I haven't had that problem.

Why couldn't Disqus - plus two high-powered IT consultancies - have thought of that simple answer? Why was it left to my neighbour, over a lazy beer, to say 'there's your problem'? (I had to buy the wretched man a case of beer...)
