For some reason, the Home and Jazz News pages don't display the font and size properly compared to the other pages. How can I fix this?

Hello Randy

I have checked your account, and the answer is easy: There is different formatting for the font on your Home page and your Jazz News page. You can see and edit this by going to the HTML code of the Widgets. If you are in a Text Widget, click into it and choose the blue HTML icon in the Text Editing Toolbar above. If you are in an HTML Widget, just click on "Edit" on the widget to open the HTML editor. You will see different values for the fonts and the sizes. You can change this by replacing the font names and sizes.

To use the default setting of your Style, just delete font and size tags from the code.

This is done most easily by using a Text Widget where you can edit your font using the Text Editing Toolbar.

I'm not sure I quite understand. I understand what you are saying about editing the code by pressing on the HTML button on the toolbar or the Edit option if it is in a HTML widget but what does this have to do with the font size of the main menu? Am I missing something here? Please set me straight :)

Hi Randy

Oh, sorry, I thought you meant the font of the body text on your pages. Now I can see that the font of your navigation links differs on some pages. It should all be Georgia because this is the default font set in your Site CSS.

The reason is custom HTML code on your website. I have saved your index page as a test page and removed the widget where you display quotes. Afterwards the navigation font was Georgia as designed. So it's this Text Widget right below your image on your home page that causes the font change. There seems to be some custom code in it, but I cannot open it because it just contains the code. For such things you should rather use an HTML Widget. However, now that we know it causes the navigation font to change, you may want do without the code altogether.

If you provide the code here, we can try to find out what causes the font change and turn it off, but I can't promise it will work.

Thanks so much. Actually the code is from the allaboutjazz.com web site. Here is the link:

I would imagine that this is also causing the problems on the Jazz News page as well because I am using code from the same sight.

Most probably yes, Randy. Do you want to remove the code anyway or would you like me to try and tweak it, so that you can still use it on your website?

I wanted to keep it on my site because visitors like it but if it is a real pain, I can remove it.

Thanks!!

Hi Randy

I have removed formatting code from the Jazz News code and pasted it here. Select all and copy/paste it to your website, using an HTML Widget:
<style type="text/css">

a.aajcat {font-weight: bold}
td.aajdate {background-color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 8pt; text-align: center}
td.aajcat {background-color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 8pt; text-align: center}
td.aaj {background-color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 8pt}
td.aajlast {background-color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 8pt; padding-top: 18px}
</style>
<script language="javascript" type="text/javascript" src="http://www.allaboutjazz.com/live/quote.txt"></script>

The quotes will now be displayed in the default formatting of your website.

You can center the HTML Widget by choosing the center align icon in the bottom left corner of your HTML Editor box.

Hope this helps!

This is excellent!!! Works great now! Check out my home page and let me know. Now, regarding the Jazz News page, I would assume that code has to be stripped out of here as well to make it work properly?

Hi Randy, yes, I suspect that should work as well. If you're nervous, I suggest making a copy of the page prior to stripping the code.

Hi Laura!

It's not that I am nervous, I just don't know how to strip the code. That's all I need to know. Thanks!!
