Hi All

We are currently experiencing technical difficulties with www.yola.com. As a result you might be unable to reach the website, or if you are logged in to the site builder you may see error messages when trying to edit your page.

We are aware of the problem and we are working to fix it as soon as possible. Please bear with us. We will update this thread with further information once we know more.

Our apologies for the inconvenience!

Okay -- great!! I just wrote to Jeremy there (he's been great helping me with some other questions this week) in a bit of a panic after getting HTTP 500 errors while in the middle of editing my site and thought it might be some corruption that occurred. Hope things are back up and running soon.

Hi all

Sorry for the delayed response as we were asleep this time :( We are experiencing a repeat of what happened a few hours ago. We have all taken strong coffee and engineering is working on it. We hope to have everything back to normal soon.

Once again we are very sorry about this and we will do all in our power to fix this and restore stability.

Published sites are not affected by this outage.

It sounds like it could be unrelated to the problems we've been experiencing, can you try these steps:
# Try loading the site in a different browser (eg. Firefox, Safari, Internet Explorer).
# Clear your browser's cache. This link has more information: http://www.wikihow.com/Clear-Your-Bro....

Marjie, i use Flock and firefox, and when it comes to reloading in the site builder it doesn't do it some times, and you have to load a different window and come back

It looks as if all is well again, although we will continue to monitor our service 24 hours a day as we normally do.

In the last 24 hours Yola has experienced an unexpected outage of the Yola website and site builder on two occasions. Our hosted sites were not affected during either of these outages.

We take downtime such as this very seriously. We are bringing additional capacity online in order to cope with our recent growth.

We are committed to ensuring a consistent and enjoyable site building experience for all our valued customers!

Unfortunately I have just spent 15 minutes looking at a white page and starting to panic somewhat about if my site I am still working on was still going to be there :(

It took 5 mins for the front login page to load and I was left starting at a white screen, when it did eventually load and I signed in, it took 10mins to log me in, again the entire time i just had a white screen :( once I got there I was too frightened to dare open my site and try working on it so I have for tonight bailed outta there for fear something bad is going to happen.

Just letting you know in case any others experience the same.

Hello Indi,

I'm sorry you were having that problem, I would like to suggest a few things to see if it remedies the problem you are having.

* Check to see if you are having problems with your network or internet service provider.
* Clear your browser's cache. This link has more information: Clear your browser's cache.
* Check your privacy settings. You must accept cookies from Yola. Please click on this link to find instructions for accepting cookies with your browser: Accept cookies.
* Check that your browser is set to enable Javascript. This link has more information on how to check: Enable Javascript.
* Try loading the site in a different browser (eg. Firefox, Safari, Internet Explorer). We would suggest using the Firefox browser as this browser seems to work best in the Yola environment. It is a free download if you would like to give it a try: Download Firefox.
* Try loading the site on a different computer or network if possible.

If none of these suggestions solves your problem, let us know and we will further assist.

Hi Tom,
I'm sorry you are having this problem and would like to get it fixed as soon as possible. Right above your post here I gave Indi some things to try to see if any of them would remedy the problem she was having. Can you please try the things on that list and if you are still unable to login to your site builder let me know and I will further assist.

Thanks,
Emmy

Hi Emmy and thanks for responding, apologises for just getting back here now near 24 hours later and again, it's late in Aussieland :(

In response to your suggestions -

* No problems with my ISP or network, Yola was the only place I had problems.

* I have a nightly ritual before shutting down puter.....one of which is "clearing cache" :) so mine was fine having been done in less than 24 hours prior :)

* I use IE7 and not being computer savvy am definately not comfortable with changing or trying something I don't know such as another browser, sorry :(

* Javascript all fine and up to date :)

Now the conclusion - tonight -

** Tonight all is working wonderfully....happy happy, puter must have been having a hissy fit.....lol.

** If I could ask about something that was said to me, I actually had posted on a forum about the new IE8 and if it was in the "beta" stage or what, when etc etc, it was advised not to upgrade to IE8 as it still had 'bugs' BUT the bit that caught my attention more was the fact they said to me that "some website site builder providers are not up to date technically and can some times take time to "catch up" therefore website providers / IE8 don't necessarily go hand in hand.

I must apologise for my completely lack of correct wording above but that was the short of the long of it if you get my jist :(

All in all though - tonight.....

Hello Indi,
IE 8 is no longer in beta, but we would suggest instead of using IE to use Firefox when building your site with Yola. From our experience this browser seems to work the best for users. It is a free download if you would like to try it out: Download Firefox.

Ummm, can I still continue to use IE7 ???? Truthfully I HATE change and especially when it comes to my puter because I am just so puter illiterate :( When I lost my Yahoo toolbar I posted on a certain site and their response "the only good tool bar is NO toolbar" - must say I totally agree after having lost it, made a huge difference and was serving no purpose.

I really am NOT comfortable in downloading any other browser so is my "works in progress website" gonna be OK still if I continue on using IE7 ?

Thanks in advance for your response.

Oh sure, you can continue to use IE7. You don't have to use Firefox, we just find that users seem to encounter fewer problems when using it. It is fast and has less hangups than IE. If things are working well as they are for you than that is good!

Indi.. you could just use FF as your secondary browser. I have both IE7 and FF on my computer. I find it very helpful to have both. If I encountered a bug in one browser, then I tried it out in the secondary browser. This often resolved any problems I encountered. Also, it helps to see what the site looks like in both browsers.
