Problems with Flash movie banner

Hi Ruth,

It seems that different users here are seeing or rather not seeing the same thing on my web-site. http://krooclub.com

Rich is using FF, I'm using Chrome, FF and Safari, Lee is using IE, FF and Chrome. Rich can't see the flash movie banner on my site. (He admits being drunk but has photographic evidence and presented it)

Interestingly other users nearby me have reported not seeing the Flash movie either. I have no idea on this issue and wondering if something comes to mind?

Hey Peter.. I answered this question in the other thread, but I'll post here to be sure you got it.

I figured it out. When I turned off my firewall protection, then the banners showed up. I don't know how this will impact your viewers though as I would assume most of them would have a firewall?

Thanks Littleus,

I did read it on the other thread after posting here.

I hate firewalls and really struggle to get them working properly let alone explaining their settings to others :( I'll have to take advice on this I think

Hey pete, just to clear im not drunk, (it was a joke) =)

Rich.. did you turn off your firewall? With my firewall, when a block comes up, it'll ask me if I want to allow the blocked content - I press "yes". This might work for you too.

Hey Peter

Glad that we figured it out! This support forum is really great! As for my site.. well.. it's gonna be a long while yet. I've run into a few problems but am slowly trying to work it out and am waiting to see what new features Synthasite will bring on board that will further aid me. I'm no tech whiz here so it's very slow going. Once I do (if I ever!) get it published, I'll be sure to let you know!

I think you're running in the race for tech knowledge. You give some pretty sophisticated advice here on GS. Can't accept that.

I think it's worthwhile developing workarounds rather than waiting for a facility to come on board. The solutions are out there. Just play with them

I know the feeling of crawling even though you can walk. It has taken me since September to publicise my sites even though they have been functioning for months. I'm now using websites as a first level communicator for various things and it has become second nature with new things at every step.

There are still things, mostly functions that I want to change or include but simply don't know how to. some of it is just appearing now but I want to do it in a timely way so that I feel I have some understanding of the process.

I have a great thingy for you that your littlies will love on your site: Slide show with a twist:

Hey guys, i'm a little confused from this whole thread (and the one before it)

so your banner was not showing in some cases because of firewall settings? - As i understand it, firewalls block incoming data packets, why would the firewall block .swf files and not the whole site and why at the same time does it not block swf files from other sites?

1. What firewall blocks it (name?)

2. Maybe you could send your code for the flash and we can see if there is something that would make this happen.

If you would rather the thread die, just ignore this. :)

Hi Lee,

Snap! I think asked the same question on the other thread. Agree there seems to be some intelligence associated with Flash :)
