Problems with Google Apps and domain mail.

I have had difficulty with Google Apps and Domain mail recently. In the past I had no problems with setting it up.
I want to know if anyone has tried Windows Live mail with domains, if it is easier to set up and if you are satisfied with the service. I need an option that doesn't take a week or better to set up. Any ideas? Thanks for your help?

Hi Kimberly,

Can you tell me what kind of trouble you are having with Google Apps, are you able to get the CNAME added in your Domain Manager? Does the time problem seem to exist on Google's end or is the problem with adding the CNAME? I would like to help if you can tell me more about what seems to be happening.

Kind Regards,
Emmy

Hi Emmy,
I have been receiving great support from Yola on this issue. However, every time a change is made to CNAME I have to wait 48 hours for Google to "update" and check the records. It seems the records were correct, but Google did not recognize this. After 2 or 3 attempts we are running into a week or better. With 2 different client's email accounts... And neither account is functioning. I really appreciate your concern!

Hi Kimberly,
Can you give me the domain names and I can take a look at the CNAME records and see if they are set up properly.

Hi Kimberly,
The MX records look to be set up properly, are you still having trouble getting Google to recognize these? They are propagated, so Google should be able to see them. What kind of a message does Google give you?

- It looks like your domain is configured incorrectly

For email to be delivered correctly, you'll need to change the "MX record" in your domain settings. If you skip this step, you'll still be able to create accounts, but you will not be able to send or receive email.

Hi Kimberly,
Hmmm, that is confusing if I say so myself. The MX records look proper, when they check again will you let us know what they say.

You can use Windows Live, the tutorial has instructions on how to use them. I have not used Windows Live before, but I know we have users who do. Maybe you might want to try this on a domain of your own and see how you like it. Here is a link to the tutorial: Email for a domain purchased from Yola. Hope this helps a bit!

Thanks Emmy. I appreciate your help. Since I use Google domain mail for many clients I am now afraid to use this in the future. Anybody else here have any comments about Windows Live mail for domains?

Hi Kimberly,

I'm sorry you are still struggling - it must be very frustrating. Your settings have definitely been added correctly to your domain. Unfortunately, this is a problem that is likely to be on Google's side and I wish I was able to fix it for you. I've Googled the error and I would recommend that you post on this link for some help: http://www.google.com/support/forum/p.... (Here are the results of my search: http://www.google.com/search?q=google....

We've had a few people post about this problem lately and it seems that it could be a Google glitch.

Will you come back and let us know the outcome?

If your Mx records are set ok when you used this tool on this page and you are able to send and received ok you can ignore that error the Google techs are aware of this issue.
