Hi JamesK

The content that you add to your site that is your original work, is automatically copyrighted. However, all information online is vulnerable to being copied or downloaded without your permission.

There are a number of ways in which you can inform visitors to your site that the information is copyrighted:

  • Add a copyright symbol © on your site along with a copyright notice. If you have a Yola Silver account, you can add this in the footer section of the site. Go to Site > Site Settings. Click on "Site tracking code". Enter the copyright information, e.g. © Copyright 2011 into the Footer pane on the screen.

  • Create your work under a Creative Commons license.

  • If you discover that someone has copied your original content from your site, you can file a DCMA compliant take down notice against them. Their web hosts will be obliged to remove the content.

I hope this answers your question. Let us know if you need any more help.
