Hi everyone,

I have decided to add some recipes to my current site (momsfunmoney.com) and would love to have my recipes show up in a recipe card format within my blog posts. I am not that good with html coding and found only one site that talked about it on Squidoo and it was just overwhelming. Does anyone know of some recipe card templates that would be easy to use to add to my blog page? Thanks in advance!

Hello Katie,

HTML is the way to go for this and I hear your hesitation using HTML which is fine.

What I would consider as an approach is an offline template with the HTML code being part of the content. You would ad the recipe fields and images, if you like, into this offline template then when a card is complete copy all the HTML including the recipe details that you have added, paste it as HTML into your blog, Save and publish.

You could do this for each recipe that you wish to add to your blog. The base template would be saved on your computer and accessed as needed for further additions.

If you wish any further idea on this then let me know here or by email at gop@designscent.com

OK.
What I would need is the reference to the recipe card that you liked and I can have a look at it and see what it may offer for this idea.

It's generally easier to work with something even if we need to rip it down and tailor it to your preferences that your blog can manage.

Gosh - I am hoping you just mean a picture of one I like? I am not assuming it can be recreated - but I did find this template for Word if that helps at all. Here is the image link. If this is not what you meant, just let me know

Hi Katie,

I get the idea.

Are the images used ie: the pots and pans , top right and bottom left important as your definitive decoration? Asking because this is really small so if you have a larger image then I can crop these two elements and save them as discrete images for inclusion. If you have alternative images then if you can email them to me : gop@designscent.com and I'll include them in the template.

For the first runs I won't worry about including a border as this can be added later. This allows us to tweak the final size of the recipe card and when it's right then we can add a border.

This is not important right now but if you can pull out your preferred colour of text for headings and details that will make it easy to tweak in the finals.

My goodness - I am overwhelmed by your generosity! Here are a few that might work for you

The main colors in my website are teal and orange so working those in would work really well!

Katie,

Here's a an . HTML colour chart.Don't be overwhelmed if it's unfamiliar.

On each colour tile you will see a code in HTML format:

eg: my interpretation of teal would be code: 009999 and orange would be: FF6600. It's quite likely that you would select different hues. If so can you have a look at the chart and tell me what your colour chart selections are for Teal and Orange (we can always tweak later).

00C999 is the closest to the teal on my site. The orange one you picked looks good.

katie,

One more thing:

How wide is your blog? (In pixels)

If you don't know then let me know the page it is published on. This needs to be known to fit the recipe card into the space.

Hi,

I do not know the pixels. When you ask what page it is published on, do you mean which template I am using? I created it so long ago I cannot remember. Is there a place on Yola where I can get that info for you? Sorry I do not know off the top of my head, ugh!
