redirect to and keep the .com domain name

We have an existing site (hosted elsewhere) that we are retiring in favour of the Yola site

I want to completely remove the .com website and stop paying that provider (and keep the domain name to protect it), however, I want our customers to still be able to enter - but now be automatically redirected to the .ca site (old habits die hard along with weblinks).

How do I do that?  Is that something done at Yola or do I need to go through the naming services agency?

I've searched through the forum however, there are way too many hits on the query, most of which deal with linking outward - not "redirecting" inward.

Hello Tom,

This is reasonably easy to achieve. You have a couple of options.

Your domain is presumably managed by another registrar.
You can keep it with your alternative registrar and simply point it to Yola's servers.
You can trtansfer it to Yola and allow them to manage the periodic re-registration. There are additional initial costs in doing this but are recoverable on he next years registration. When you transfer a domain from another registrar to Yola you pay a full years registration to Yola for the reistration irrespective on when the original registrars payment was made. For example if you paid for your domain's registration last month then you are basically doubling up registration costs. Next year however Yola will credit you for the overlap in costs. The process for transferring your domain to Yola: and
If you don't wish to transfer the domain to Yola there are no additional costs levied by Yola and the payment of registration remains with your original registrar. You have to work out the cost liability difference in this case. To subsequently point your .com domain to Yola's servers:
Once you choose which way you wish to go then the automatic redirection you mentioned can be handled by the facilities available to you in your Control Panel in My Yola.
I would take this slowly step by step and I think it will all gel for you. Good luck Tom.
