redirect existing site

Currently have my own domain hosted somewhere else. I am building a new site for it here at Yola. I know I just go in and redirect my A-file to Yola, to point to it's new location. My question is do I have to resubmit sitemap and re-verify with Google? If so do I delete the old site on google 1st and resubmit as new site. Or should I just leave it alone and let them pick up the new site on it's own? Anyone know if this is going to hurt my ranking with the search engines?
Thanks for the help!

Hi Kj,

I just want to make sure I am understanding correctly. Is the domain name you are using for your site live right now, meaning you have another site published to it and you are going to basically unpublish it, point the A Record of the domain to Yola, and then publish your site built with Yola to the domain name?

Let me know and I can give you some more help!

Hello Kj,

The content will be identical I think you're saying. It's likely however that the structure of a site built by one builder is a bit different to another. For this reason I would submit another sitemap from the Yola built site when you're ready. A site map is actually already built for you. {mysite/sitemap.xml}. You simply submit this.

As to whether your rating will be affected I really don't know that. There's very little that the conservative Google machines miss and I think the chances are that there would need to be some proving time??? (I'm guessing)
