Hello all Yola Forum members!

I created a little Yola site in remembrance of Steve Jobs. You can see it here:
http://steve-jobs.yolasite.com/

Please let me know how you like it.

I made a little pop up box from scratch for the "About this website" of this site and I made it look like a Mac OS X window. Please let me know how you like that too. :) (to get to it, click on the little question mark in the top right corner of the second page. To get to the second page simply click anywhere on the white content area)

Please give me any feedback, I appreciate it. :)

Hi Nathan,

That is a really great site! I love the little touches and the mac theme (Yes, I am a huge mac fan)

Nicely done!

I'm really glad to hear that you're using Chrome as my site works best in webkit browsers. (Chrome & Safari) It also works good in Firefox.

@ThePunisher: Sure, I'll create a little tutorial for you about creating those nice looking Apple-style logos. :)

I'll post a link to it here when I'm done.

Whilst I am not a big apple fan, that debate is for another day.

Steve Jobs however was a very innovative and inspirational person to many and a symbol of what anyone can do if they put their mind to it.

I wish his family the best in the time to come.

Thanks. :) It's actually all one big HTML widget. I custom coded most of it except the template itself.

Are you sure? Well, I'll just make a text-based tutorial instead...

It is basically just some text (with the text tool) with the font "Myriad Pro Semibold" and a "gradient overlay" with some settings adjusted. Here's a screenshot of the gradient settings:

(Click the image to see full-size, as it'll be more readable.)

And, to get to the gradient effect box, you just have to select the layer and click the little "FX" button at the bottom of the layers box:

And, select the "Gradient Overlay":

I hope this helps. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. :)

Note to everyone that views this topic:

I changed the URL of the site to: http://www.rememberingstevejobs.co.cc/

I couldn't figure out how to get the .yolasite.com to forward to my pointed domain. Hopefully someone could help me with this :)

It's okay, maybe an employee will know how to do this. (have a pointed domain and a .yolasite.com domain on the same site - so the .yolasite.com can forward to the new pointed domain that I have)

Hello,

Photoshop CS5 is US$699. It is $199 to upgrade to the newest version (CS5) if you have a previous version.

You can see more information about Photoshop here: http://www.adobe.com/products/photosh...

Also I forgot to mention that there is a free software similar to Photoshop called "GIMP". I don't know how to make this type of logo in GIMP, but I've heard that it is similar to Photoshop. More information can be found here: http://www.gimp.org/
