Removing header from School Notes Template

How can I remove the header (the light brown, dark brown, thumb tack image) on the school notes template and replace it with my own image?

I did some research on the site, and found the following topic: http://forum.yola.com/yola/topics/how...

But when I add the css code: display:none....the text on the right side becomes completely out of alignment and goes over the white centered space and carries over to the main background.

For clarity, I have included a screenshot below....how do we get rid of that header and add our own? Thanks for your help in advance!

Hi KJ,

A banner like this is likely to have a few elements as you have experienced.

If you can tell me your website address I can look at it for you and possibly post the complete modification for you.

Hi KJ,

There are three elements to this banner so that's why it all went out of kilter when you deleted it.

The three elements when removed display this final appearance:

So depending on your final banner can we can reconstruct elements as required or simply leave some out and add your banner.

If you can now tell me how you want it to be oriented with the heading and the address of the banner image, I can do a mock up and post that as a complete fix.

One question: Do you have Yola Silver or Bronze?

The codes related to the banner with content removed:

div.ys_wrap div#sys_banner {
height: 224px;
width: 812px;
}

div.ys_banner_back {
height: 266px;
padding: 34px 0 0 68px;
}

div.ys_banner_over {
height: 154px;
padding: 70px 0 0;
width: 812px;
}

If you simply want to change the title then it could look like this:

To change that you would need to change your site title.

First, thanks Gop for all your work on this. This is extremely helpful! I prefer the first version, but I would like to know if you could tell me how to properly modify the code if I want to play with different sized banners (which I haven't created yet) and minimize the space below and above the title?

Thanks once again!

HI Gop, I'm not sure what you mean by changing the title. Do you mean making it shorter? Ideally, I would like to make the page look like the attached picture, is this possible to do with yola's template?

Thanks!

HI KJ,

I need to know the exact banner location and name for your banner?

Has you uploaded it to the File Manager of your site?
Is it called "newbanner.jpg"?
Is itin any sub-folder within the File Manager?

Yola doesnt allow me to easily link to the file image. From my understanding the "My Files" folder is the default directory, if not the image is under the my files sub folder. The name of the file or image is newbanner.jpg.

Thanks!

OK. I need to know the name of the subfolder? Hot linking is a common process for images. The File Manger has the default name of "resources" and any folder that you create there will be a sub-folder of resources. So if I uploaded an image to a new folder I lablled "new-images" tand the image name was called frog.png then the addrss would be:

http://{my-site.com}/resources/new-images/frog.png

Can you post your banner image here then:

Select a new "Reply to this topic" window and at the bottom right hand corner there is an image icon "Add image" which will allow you to post the image.

Hi KJ,

I think I've found an easier way to do this.

can you tell me the fonts you used to create the banner. I think that this can be done with text and it has advantages for being recognised above those of images for this purpose particularly as it is a title/heading and as such has some relevance in the ranking game or at least in the SERPS.

That's OK. Glad you have moved on to building your functional site.

I was looking through your site and the horrendous statistics within.

What a tragic indictment on such a wonderful country. I am truly shocked and really can't see how a society can allow this to escalate so fast without turning it around. Is this typical for other states or is it isolated? I hope it's isolated and that your federal and state govts have the desire and resources to salvage this. Surely it will lead to something apocalyptic if it continues?
