Repeat of DOS attack: affects published sites.

Hi All

It is with the deepest possible regret that I have to inform you that we are definitely experiencing a repeat of the DOS attack (hackers) for the second time this week: http://forum.yola.com/yola/topics/net...

We are working with our hosting provider to resolve this as quickly as possible.

The current status is that Yola.com and the site builder is up, but hosted sites are down.

Naturally this is a very serious situation, and we need to learn why the extra measures they put in place after the last attack have failed. However, right now our priority is to resolve the current problem.

We will pass on any information to you as soon as it becomes available.

yes my site is still down its been over 30 mins now this is not a good thing at all any word I'm sure its all sites. This is the 1st time I've ever seen this provider down. Your templates are so easy to use as well . I hope its up soon

Thanks for your support Clint! We are glad you like our service, but we are also upset that this is happening right now. It is a massive attack and it is taking us a long time to recover - much longer than we hoped. However, we are sure that everything will be fully restored, we are just not sure how long it will take.

I have had the pleasure of using YOLA's fine sitebuilder for what seems years and years and even with this hiccup see no reason whatsoever to keep concerned...

It is in fact not their fault and it is out of their control because hackers are hackers. There are these types of attacks on each and every site builder on the web, government websites and even I bet your very own social networking site where you keep in touch with your friends.

Yola has done a wonderful job keeping our sites secure in the past and I can feel their resolve and desire to continue to carry on the same level of security and assurance that they have given us for so very long.

I have the utmost faith in the stunning employees of a stunning company...

Please let us all offer them our thanks and admiration for being on the front line of an attack on not just them but each and every one of us. They are not in it alone but just as we have a military to protect us in an actual battle we need to show them that we are behind them in this virtual battle.

Happy site building and Thank you Yola... Keep your chins up wherever you may be...

Thanks Ed and Sarah! Yes, we are exceedingly frustrated as well, and extremely sympathetic to people who are angry and disappointed with us right now. But we always appreciate the support that is offered, especially during a crisis of this nature! You guys are fabulous.

Just an update:

The DOS attack is ongoing. However, at this time our service is back up and our firewalls are holding firm.

We are not declaring total victory for the time being but are continuing to monitor.

However, we are hopeful that the end seems to be in sight.

Ok, it looks like the firewalls are holding and that all aspects of our services have been restored to normal.

A big thank you to the team who worked on this outage. Too many to mention by name, but in particular thanks to Brent our CTO, Bearnard, our System and Services engineer and our partners over at Inetservices, who came through for us again in difficult circumstances. You guys win the medal for being cool under pressure!

My domain name was through yahoo.

I moved my web address a day ago. I went ahead and pointed it back to your IP Address. So it will take about 30 minutes to show up.
