Saved Keywords for Google Web Searches not included in Webcrawler Search - why not?

Google has just begun crawling my new site. It has listed the most common keywords found when going though my site's pages. Why do none of the keywords I've saved in each page's Sitebuilder Properties section come up (unless by coincidence occurring in the text of my pages)? I thought that was the whole point of including them. Have I misunderstood their actual purpose?

Cheers
Paul

OK I'll answer my own question: Google staff just told me that meta keyword tags have been redundant for over 5 years. Google search engine basically doesn't read them anymore. Nice to know.

Hello Paul,

The goal of the keywords meta tag is to call out specifically the main topic keywords of a page, that however is not always what the search engine will pick up as the common keywords on a page, such as what Google Webmaster Tools shows. The very best way to have the search engine pick up the topic and main keywords of a page is to not only list the keywords in the keywords property field in the Sitebuilder, but also fit them into the title and description tag as well as the body content of the page. We have a tutorial with more information on this specific topic here: Building your site with SEO in mind.

I hope that will help!
