Scheduled Maintainence

  • Updated 4 years ago
Heads up everyone!

At about 1pm GMT our site builder will be down for about 20 minutes. We do not expect it will be for any longer than this. The reason for this is that we need to replace some of our network cards.

Although we regret this brief interruption, it is our belief that doing this will result in improved stability of our service going forward. Published sites will NOT be affected during this time.

Watch this thread for updates - we appreciate your patience!

Hi Monique.

Sorry, not being rude. But i have noticed that you say 00GMT. The problem is there are around 89 GMT time zone. I recommend that you place your GMT area next to GMT. I believe you are talking about -07.00 US & Canada mountain time.

Also, i have watched the webcast from GS and Yola sounds awesome, May i contribute to your community??? thought i should ask

P.S
whats yola's URL???

There is 1 GMT type, But The world has diffrent time zones, If there were only one i don't get how it is day in US and night in New Zealand.
Here is an example
Time: 5:12AM (-07:00GMT - Yola Time)
Time: 9:11PM (+10.00GMT- My time)
See difference?

Hi JayJay,
Have a look here bud.

......eventually led to GMT being used worldwide as a reference time
independent of location. Most time zones were based upon this reference as a number
of hours and half-hours "ahead of GMT" or "behind GMT".

Ref: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greenwic...

If you live in the US, 1pm GMT would be about 6am your time ;-)

Also, you can go to your Get Satisfaction profile and decide how many alerts you receive. You can either get everything, nothing or a daily summary. If you opt to get all the alerts it can clog your inbox, so you might want to configure this for what is appropriate for you.

We have just heard that our hosting service has postponed. We will only be doing this in another two and a half hours from now.

If you want see when it is in your time, see: http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/

The time for Cape Town will be 16:30 - if that gives you an idea.

Sorry about this, but we have just heard about the change ourselves.

We are about to begin our scheduled maintenance and logins to the site builder will be disabled during this time. We will try to keep it short.

Check back here for updates.

As you know - big fan - but maintenance needs to happen on the weekends (unless emergency). I have work for clients that is due today - and you've taken the tool offline.

When do you anticipate being back online?

Just wanted to add:
Its just a matter individual preference whether the maintenance should be done on which day. Many of us who build sites in their free time would never prefer a maintenance on weekend!
But dont worry Yola people are are a different species than human! they have outdone themselves in case of services they provide.
So i hope they fix it soon, as usual ;)

why does yola need to be offline in order to conduct maintenance? Isn't this the technology age? We fix things WHILE you work! lol

Hey Donald - I have a Web Marketing Company... what I'm finding with Yola is an 80% design solution that enables focus on lead capture and other ROI-based activity. So my clients can pay me to think and deliver, rather than waiting on a developer.

With that said, some of my clients demand a 95-100% design solution - that still happens the old fashioned way - expensive and slow(er).

hello john,

That info is pretty amazing. You can do that much work with Yola as a tool. i think that this would blow some of the sceptics well off their feet. What an ally! What an advocate!

I can appreciate your thoughts on Weekend work - so here's a compromise - never do it during the day - shoot for 1a-5a where the majority of your subscribers are located.

Hi John. Thanks for this. Just a bit of background. While this was scheduled maintenance, it was actually pretty urgent. The work done today put in a place a fix that will solve the root cause of some recent outages. So not doing it now could have resulted in additional, unscheduled downtime. We did have it scheduled for an off peak time initially, but we needed to work with our hosting company and unfortunately they were forced to reschedule at the last moment. While we try to shoot for the ideal sometimes it doesn't quite work out. We look forward to the time when we will be able to do downtime-free upgrades and maintenance. It is a goal our engineering team is working towards.

Hi leia,

I'm not sure I understand your question. Please can you let us know if you're experiencing some issues with getting into your site? If so, what happens and does this occur in your Sitebuilder? Please also check out these troubleshooting tips to see if they help to resolve the problems.

Please let us know how this goes.
