School website: What do you want to see on a schools` website?

I`m working on a website for my high school. They have one, but it sucks! For me there is three 'parties' you have to cater for: the parents of the learners in the school(informative), potential parents(marketing) and the children in the school. We, as school, want to be a pioneer school in South Africa when it comes to its web presence.

Any further ideas on school sites? And have I got a good thing going here?

@ Alex and John,

You should try to get involved with developing or working on your school sites - good learning opeertunity and its always nice doing something you enjoy at school.

Hi Ruhan,

Sounds like you're headed in the right direction! Another group you might want to cater to is faculty. Just a thought.

Keep us updated as it develops!

that's funny, before I read this suggestion I was going to suggest it. :) Faculty always wants to participate in their school's website. Allow them to post assignments or something for example, give them opportunities. Allow them to post syllabus' and stuff. I know with yola we're restricted by not having member logins and stuff, but maybe the webmaster can create individual pages for each of the faculty with a "comments" section available and they can use the comments section to post certain things such as learning aids, assignments, and outlines.

I'm assuming once the site's finished you'll be giving control of yola to someone else to maintain it?
