Hi Al

Thanks for the positive feedback and the insightful question!

I looked at your site and I see that it has not been indexed by Google yet. Can you tell me when you first published it? It can take Google anywhere from a few days to three months to index a newly published site. Unfortunately this is not something we can control. However, there are some things you can do to speed things up. For more information see our tutorial: http://www.synthasite.com/tutorials/p...

Your site looks great. Super cool and clever title! I hope it gets indexed soon. Please get back to me if you have any questions.

Monique. Thank you for replying so quickly. I created the site yesterday. This may explain why Google has not indexed it. Excellent to receive an education in the ways of the net.

And, great service as well as a great product! Synthasite is destined for success.

Great business idea - cudos to the CEO - although I struggle to see whether your revenues will be sustainable. Certainly think you're set for a huge growth phase though. Good luck!

Will do. Was also wondering, if, when the website does become searchable, will anyone be able to see the entire contents? Ideally I would like to make certain areas restricted for privacy reasons...is this possible?

Thanks again

Another good question! It is definitely possible to restrict any page or pages on your website that you like. Here is a link to a post in this forum that will tell you how to do this: http://getsatisfaction.com/SynthaSite...

Please let us know if you have any further questions about how to restrict selected areas on your website.

Monique, again, thanks for your speedy and accurate response.

Further question...I have used a style called 'Etermology' (No. 14 i think) for the site. A couple of questions on general layout, is it possible to change the colouring (it was not when I started yesterday) and secondly, is it possible to transfer all content seamlessly to some/any other style?

Hi Al

The Entomology style does not have additional colour palettes associated with it, so it is not possible to change the colour scheme. You can change the banner image and I can see that you have already done this and I think the image you selected works very well with the style.

However, if you would like a change, you can certainly do this. Simply click on the "Change Style" button. (Between the "New Page" and the "File Manager" buttons). The style selector dialog box will open up and you can browse for and select any new style without losing the content on your page. However, you will lose your banner image. If the new style you select supports a custom banner image you can upload one - but the dimensions for the image differ from style to style.

I hope this answers your question. Please let me know if you have any difficulty experimenting with the different styles available in SynthaSite.

Hi! A couple of questions...

1. Can you tell if my site has been indexed yet?
2. Is it possible to have a page on the site where visitors can leave comments without me having to edit in the text?

Thanks

Hi Al,

Your site still isn't indexed, I'm sorry.

You can add a comment box to your site by doing the following:

1. Add a Widget Box widget to your page - you'll find it in the widgets folder in the sidebar at the right of your screen
2. A dialogue box will open up. Click on the link in the bottom right hand corner, it will take you to www.widgetbox.com
3. In the Widget Box website search box search for "web messages"
4. Customise the comment box to your satisfaction and click on "get widget"
5. Copy the embed code, paste it back in the dialogue box on your SynthaSite and click ok!

You will then have a place where people can leave comments.

Hi AI

Just a word from personal experience. It took about a month for Google to index the first of my pages, and another week for it to index another three. To-date, not all pages have been indexed yet, and I suspect that not all words / phrases have been indexed.

Synthasite is great and the support team is excellent. However, they are not able to hasten the listing and indexing by Google. I'm sure they have checked your site to make sure nothing is 'technically wrong'.

If you want my unsolicited advice on indexing, just sit back and chill ... my site http://youngfamily.synthasite.com/ took about a month, but I have had other sites quite comprehensively indexed in less time.
