Selecting default option for custom postage options with Ecwid

I want to add a free local pick up option to my Ecwid shop so locals don't pester me with email orders rather than using the website and having to pay postage. But when I add this as a custom option (all my options are custom UK and EU postage specific), it becomes the default (as it is the cheapest of 3 options?) so can I make one of the postage options the default and people can hunt for the free pick up if they want it? Otherwise people don't check and don't question why postage hasn't been added! Thanks in anticipation.

Hi Jane,

We touched base with our Ecwid account manager for your question. I have included his reply below.

Currently, the available shipping methods are listed by their rate ascendingly, and the cheapest option (the most likely appealing for the customer) is selected automatically.

It is possible to limit the availability of the free pickup method to a particular zone. The store admin should create a separate destination zones, that covers the place where no postal shipping is required. Then the shipping rate currently being used in the pickup method should be bound to that zone. This way only the customers from the area where postal shipping is not required will be able to use the free pickup method. All others will not see the free pickup method and will have to use some postage.

In the upcoming version 11 of Ecwid we have seriously changed the shipping setup, and it will be possible to choose the default shipping method (or, more exactly, the sorting order in which the methods are presented - the first one of the methods whichever is available for that order will become default, so the store owner is able to hint for the default method by using custom sorting order). This new version is already available for beta testing: http://www.ecwid.com/forums/showthrea...
Sincerely yours,
