I know fresh content is very good for SEO but not always an easy thing to do for sites like mine that are niche e commerce sites. I was wondering if using Fresh Content News Feeds are good, bad or of little value to use on our index page? My fear is that Google may look at them as they did with link farms....Any thoughts?

Hi John,

That's a really good question as fresh, unique content is one of the best things you can do for SEO as this keeps the search engines to come back to your site often to index what is new. When they see things changing/being added often, it "trains" them to come back and re-index.

When it comes to a news feed giving your site an SEO boost, this would be the case IF the news feed was relevant to your site's content in some way. What the search engines are looking for when it comes to content that is brought in is "Does this increase the visitor's experience on this site?" If the news feed will give the site visitor an added bonus while being there, be relevant to what they are searching for in some way, then I would say that yes, it will have a positive effect and not be looked at like a link farm would be.

I am thinking that in your case, with a niche Ecommere site, you may want to pull in some blog feeds with content relevant to yours.

Hope that helps a bit!

Thanks Emmy....I really could not find anything I was reading on the subject to sway me one way or the other. It is easy to find feeds with relevant content and it sounds like this isn't something that would cause harm.I think I will give it a try and see how it goes.
