I have submitted my site to Google webmaster as per tutorials and it was verified but still have the following questions/situations:

1) I search in google with mysite.com and it does not appear. I search google with my site Title and it appears the first one...why?
2) I changed teh title of my site because the old one was to long and no one would have searched for it in that shape. I updated the site, and if I search google with the new title (more general) I do not find my site but if I still search with the old title I find it in the top of the list. After changing the title do I have to submit my site again, or this is done automatically, only that google needs time for the new changes?

3) in my googlewebmaster, I see in "how googlebot sees" my site, some strange and irrelevant keywords, different than those I filled in my yola sitebuilder...why and how can I fix this?

When adding to gogole you have to patient - they only crawl sites once every few weeks so changes are far from instant.

Have you manually added the url? http://www.google.com/addurl/

Maybe the unknown keywords are from text on your pages?

Hi Duke, I added analytics long time ago, the keywords are from the text, of course but they are so irrelevant, such as :
and, in, through, they, etc..who would search these words?? but I do not see other keywords such as, diaspora, community, pyramids, pharaos, souvenirs, shopping, museums, ancient Egypt...which exist on my content and they were added to the keyword pannel in my sitebuilder....

sounds like the google bot has lost its mind - usually it would ignore these - maybe it has, maybe thats just showing most frquent words rather than the keywords it would use to get people to your site.

We had our site hacked. We thought that we cleaned everything up only to notice that Google had indexed a directory that was full of non-relevant keywords. This has cost us much of our ranking and traffic resulting from relevant searches.

We removed the pages
Then we disallowed them via robots.txt
We then requested a removal of the directory from Google
Now we're waiting to see if the bad keywords will ever go away

Any other ideas?

Hi JR,

A few questions:
1. What is your url?
2. What type of a directory do you have on your site that was full of non relevant keywords? Or is this a directory you submitted your site to?
3. It's not possible to access the robots.txt file in a site built with Yola, are you possibly referring to something else?

Thanks,
Emmy

Emily,
1. The URL is http://www.insidepoolmag.com
2. The directory was one that the hacker uploaded, but for some reason or another, our hosts and I did not notice it at the time of the hacking. It was basically a directory with 2000 static html pages containing medicine and online drug purchasing information.
3. Nobody accessed our robots.txt file. We altered this via instructions from Google on how to properly remove content from their index.

Our issue is more on how to remove the keywords from Google's indexing/Google Sitemaps. It's not really listed anywhere where we can find it. I'm somewhat at a loss as I'd like this words to be gone from our web site as far as Google is concerned too.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
JR

Hi JR, This is a Yola forum for Yola sites - If your site is not made with Yola its very difficult for us to help. Sorry.

Just delete the uploaded html files and wait for google to re crawl your site - all will be ok.

Lee/Emily,
Thanks for the reinforcement. This was the action being taken. As far as Yola and this forum, I'm certain that since no web site is beyond a hackers grasp, these posts will come in handy for some one, some day.

Thanks again,
JR
