SEO HELP PLEASE!

Hi, i'm looking for some helpful info regarding seo and internet marketing.
I have had my site up for about 8 months now www.moneyrollbeats.net, im a music producer and i sell instrumentals on my site. I have a pretty clear idea on the whole seo thing, Ive got about 600 backlinks so far all relevant to my ninche and from both high ranking and average ranking. I have been very careful on what forums i place links and blogs i comment on, i have also submitted my site to several web directories like manta.com and i have written several good relevant articles and last the contaent on my site is pretty good. having all this my site is still not performing, the keywords im going for are low and medium competition and get a descent amount of global searches, "buy rap beats" "buy beats online" "hop hop instrumentals" and others, my site is not coming up anywhere near the first page. Now am i doing something wrong? am i not doing enough? Is it a matter of time? Im quite frustrated with this any ideas or suggestions would be much appreciated! thanks!

Hi,

Your problem may be that there is not much content. There's a lot of writing and that can put people off. People who come to your site want original interesting material and lots of it in a very concise and easily identified way. Your content is of good quality, I think you need more of it in a more condensed way.

Your blog is good but it's the deeper level of your content not really the primary focus.

SEO is really the tail end as it is the way to present this material for identification to the search engines. The search engines use content most of all for their ranking and SERPS placement not SEO structure primarily.

Another aspect of this is backlinks. If you have many backlinks and relatively few visitors the Google alarms ring. It's inconsistent and {they} consider the possibility of manipulated backlinks such as purchasing backlinks and the thought is that this can hurt your ranking.

A few backlinks is better than lots as discussed by a few commentators recently.

got it.. so do you think i should let it sit for a while in terms of backlinks? All the links i have dropped though mainly in forums arent "spammy" i engage in conversations and Q&A's.

As far as content, i think i have the wrong idea of content, i thought that the more text you have the better, what exactly is "content" should i put more images, banners? i'm a little confused...

Content in this case is the separate points or topics. These can be well illustrated with a hard hitting description, an image, a soundtrack ,a movie.

The banner is an eye catcher but it only lasts a second, that can be important if you can get the person to read beyond the banner and that's where the quality content comes in.

Writing is extremely important. it should be well constructed and concise. You have good writing ability so it only needs to be condensed.

I think that your product is predominately digital but is there any local market in the nearby area that would want to see you face to face? If so then it's really worth your while publishing your location and entering this as a business address with google or similar. I'm sorry i don't fully understand the industry

sorry if im a little slow here lol.. ok so your saying my content is good i just need to organize it better make it simpler for people to read through it.? i just dont quite get it i can ad some images but i need all the text fields,, i just dont see what other way i can put it. Yes my product is digital, music artists can buy beats and instrumentals from my site for their demo songs, albums, film or tv manly hip hop and rnb artists, unfortunately there is no local market, however i am linked to a recording studio but i dont think that can help..

That's good that you have identified all your text as being important. Then as you say you just need to organise it in a way that doesn't swamp people with a large amount in one gulp.

There's a saying" websites are for surfers"; "blogs are for readers and thinkers"

What I was getting at is that your blog contains really good thought. Remember that your visitors are likely to be surfers wanting to quickly absorb easily digested info. The people who stay on to read your blog are those who like the explanation of ideas and the discussion of these. Generally it's the non-blog that attracts the majority of viewers.

First off thanks again for your help!
So i went over my content and made a few changes, i cleaned up all of my text removing "usless sentences" rewrote a few things to make my message clear and simple. I also added a few images. How does this look to you? If you were a potential customer is my site clear and engaging? What changes would you make? Thanks for your time

I have rapidly and deliberately let the impact hit me and reacted on gut feeling.

Here's what came to mind:

  • Title in white is not catching. Try the green.

  • banner image is fuzzy. See if you can sharpen it.

  • First paragraph. Inconsistent font size. Take it up to the second half's size.

  • A bit more space between your Satisfaction Guaranteed and the next section.

  • Similarly after your two columns section: Socials and price announce. More space after them between your list player. each section should be well delineated for clarity. don't be frightened of white space (black space) use it for separation and impact. try putting your list player ina custom panel or maybe even in an accordion panel so that it minimises and maximises when a person investigates it?

  • Blue text doesn't work well.

  • remove the phrase "quick nav" at the bottom.

  • remove replicates of your social buttons. Your sideline array is perfect and covers most.

  • Put your survey and subscription into a custom panel as you have created for the other aspects. Uniformity there I think will help the appearance. The survey titles in white are out of touch i think.

  • You discount notice is too over-bearing. Subdue it and place it at the end of the list player. center it.

gREAT! Thanks for the info, i made pretty much all of the changes you suggested, as for the blue link text, there is no option in the site builder to change the color, same for my survey i cant change the color... I see what you are saying about blank space, i thought that having everything compact made it easier as you dont have to scroll through too much.

It's really a nice change John. It looks welcoming and business like. It doesn't overwhelm me and it's pleasant.

I'll have a look at the code and get back to you hopefully with a generic method whereby you can just slip in the colour code to make a change to those if you wish.

The scrolling and compaction is a two edged sword isn't it? I really think that you have to go on what looks, works and feels better when it comes to things like this. Your only other option is to break up your page and divide it into two pages but I don't think that would be of any benefit i think that you are on the right track having that on your opening page. It may be worth your while thinking about this possibility though. You probably have a better idea of how "clients" think when it comes to your industry.

I like the "jump back to the top" anchor though as that really does reduce the tedium of back scrolling. You may even consider adding it after each section? Your call.

I'll get back to you here with some code hopefully.

Gop.
