use the keyword suggest tool from google

You can see the average amount paid per click for each keyword, you can see monthly local and global search volumes, you can filter results, it's a very convenient tool. The best part is being able to select keywords with the highest pay per click. This helps advertising with google adsense much more effective. I don't get many clicks, but when I do, it ranges from $1 to $4 per click.

Also, DO NOT use too many one word keywords, google penalizes you for this and you will show up lower in the search results. Rather, use two to four keyword phrases and no more than ten total words. Example of a page's keywords

Animal Training, How to train dogs, cat grooming

I have 8 keywords there and three keyword phrases. Try to avoid using the same keyword twice on a page. You'll notice above, none of the keywords are the same as the others even though in a different keyword phrase. Also, do not hide keywords in your page (same color text as background), and DO NOT use keyword flooding (generally more than 15 keywords) - google tends to ban pages and sometimes entire sites because of keyword flooding. Be careful not to use keywords with an extraordinary amount of search volume (80 million, etc.)... this also has a larger competition volume and harder to rank high. Be careful not to use too low of search volume too (5,000 or less) because this restricts the possibility of you being found because the keyword isn't searched enough giving you lack of opportunity.

Also, don't use "stop" words. Stop words are such as... "and", "but", "or", etc.. you'll get penalized for those too.
