Is giving your pictures an "alternative text" important as I've seen that tagging your pictures is an important part of optimizing your page, being a newbie to this 1)Is this right, 2)how do optimize your pictures on yola website and as a garden landscaper what would be the best ways to optimize my pictures ie use keywords ,sentences or something else, I've put basic descriptions on the edit section of the pictures which says"alternative text", Is this where the keywords go or have I missed the point completely any advice on this and seo would really help..cheers Rich(Evns Landscapes)

Yes Alt text is very good for SEO ....Give a decent description but not too long or it is looked at as keyword stuffing.....One of mine for example on my site might be a photo of one of my end tables I offer..The Alt. text might read...End Table hand carved wood, walnut finish. All of those words appear on my page text describing my product...Also in the Yola provided page properties for my window title, meta description and key words. It all relates and increase your chances of better search placement in regular search but also in image search for your photos.

Thank you for the reply, I'll carry on going through my photos on my website and give them a discription,I've got the same photo a couple of times on my website or a couple from the same job, should I vary the discription on each photo or keep it the same for that relevent job.One last thing I'm a garden landscaper in south Birmingham so is it a good idea to include areas ie where the job was done or keep it just to the actual type of job the picture depicts,I've seen it helps to make your tags quite percific rather than broad ie west midlands. Nany thanks for the advice....
