Hi "cmd ceramics"

It seems to me that you have already made significant progress. You have a great looking site with good content and you have been indexed by Google!

Increasing your page rank takes time, but there are a few things you can do.
1) Make sure that you have added tags for each page of your site. You do this by filling in relevant words in the "Description" field in the properties sidebar for each page. Remember to republish your site once you have done this.
2) The most important thing you can do to promote your site is to make sure that you have as many inbound links as possible. Inbound links are links from other sites to your site. So you have one right here! Find as many sites or blogs as you can that might be willing to link to you. You already have a links page which links to other sites, which also helps.
3) Add Google Analytics to your site so that you can see where your traffic is coming from, how long visitors are spending on your site, and which pages they are visiting. This is all useful information you can use to tweak your site and increase your traffic.

Here are some links that will help you:
1) Adding Google Analytics: http://getsatisfaction.com/SynthaSite...
2) Attracting more visitors to your site: http://getsatisfaction.com/SynthaSite...
3) Tips for promoting your site: http://www.synthasite.com/support/tut...

Best wishes

Hi Monique,
Thanks for your response to my question but im still abit unsure as to my next step. I found a great help page from google that has really thrown a spanner in the works http://www.google.com/support/webmast...

It gives a lot of advice for people to improve search rankings with them.
it also mentions using your keywords in the text on your web pages to boost your search ranking. So heres my problem ive finished my site and am VERY happy with the way it looks and works but im still very low in search rankings. Now i really dont want to start re-wording my site to include my keywords in the main body of my text so was wondering if i can use a html widget and some code? and insert hidden keywords that would not be visible to humans reading my pages but that search engines would pick up on. I do not know anything about html code and would appreciate any help on offer with this. heres my website www.cmdceramics.com

thanks for your time and effort

Yes, I saw that page and referenced it elsewhere on this forum! The most important thing you should take from that help page is the importance of getting other sites to link to you.

Google advises against placing hidden keywords on your site. You should write your pages for humans, not search engines. Did you follow my suggestion of adding descriptive keywords in the "Description" field in the properties sidebar for each page? This should allow you to add all the keywords you like without re-writing your site copy.

The other thing you can do to improve your rankings is to update your content frequently. When you write new copy, consider including keywords but always make sure your content reads well for your visitors.

I am glad you like the look of your site, and if you follow the suggestions on that help page your ranking will improve in time. There is no quick-fix as far as I know, but I trust that your perseverence will be rewarded.

Hi everyone,
Ive been really busy submitting to directories and exchanging links and now i see why most people pay for this as it is very time consuming. I think synthasite is great but we really need more information on keywords, descriptions and pagerank. Ive read a serious amount of information on these subjects lately and feel im starting to understand how search engines work. im still abit puzzled though. My website has about 7 pages and my index page has some keywords in the page title on the rest of my pages ive put a weblink to my first page as the page title which has got the other pages indexed yippie! now should i change the page title to the same keywords as my index page?? or use different keywords on all pages?? Also i have noticed that google is without a doubt the hardest search engine to rank well on. ive got about 12 links according to google but on msn ive got over a hundred?? why is this?? any news on the update so i can verify my website with google webmaster tools?? has anyone managed to improve there pagerank since publishing there synthasite website?? when will we be able to upload files to the server?? as i have joined a 3 way link programme that requires you to do this.

Thanks for all your help im having a great time working with synthasite!

Hi there

It certainly sounds like you have done your homework on this. I have asked our expert in this area to answer your SEO questions. Her answers will be much better than mine :-) I hope some other people will jump into the discussion as well.

Just an update on the Google Webmaster feature. The development work has been done and we intend to release this feature with our next update. We have been busy with some major infrastructure and design work, so it is taking a little longer than expected, but hopefully the new features will be out by the end of the month or early in July. But to make up for it we will have a few more features to help with SEO, like the ability to add Keywords, and Favicons. Keep an eye out for it.

I added in some HTML with MetaTags, I'm not sure if this is actually doing anything for my site, can anyone tell me if this is helping, or hurting me.

www.ControlHollywood.com

I've already added in the google analytics, and well, people from all over the world have gone to my site of about one week. only about 100 so far. I also submitted the site to StumbleUpon.com which helps get your website found by random people just wondering the internet. If you don't know about this app, I HIGHLY!! HIGHLY!!!!! recomend it. You'll find all kinds of knew stuff. Like Synthasite for instance. ;-)

OK ive just finished the second part, so far ive covered:
Chapter 1 getting indexed by google and pagerank.
Chapter 2 Link exchange, Keywords and anchor text.

This blog is aimed at synthasite users with very little experience and is based on things ive found and read. I intend to add chapters about descriptions, page headers, on page seo and some of the free tools ive found that help analyize your web pages but cant do it all in one day.

Check it out here http://synthasiteseo.blogspot.com
Dont forget to add a link to my website if you think the blog helped.

Hi Roxy

To get people to your site you need to get yourself to appear on the search engines search results. There are many ways to do this and I think the best for you to follow might be here:

As far as domains are concerned here is a reply by Ruth one of the fine reps with Synthasite.

One of the ways to do this, is first. Submit your site to google, and the other search engines. Or find a site submitter. I google I think, "submit site to multiple search engines" and got one that put me in like 20 at the same time. Some of which I never even heard of.

THEN, I'd say, set up link exchanges with people. See at www.JoshDarville.com the "I got a guy" section. I've traded linked with other businesses that deal with similar clientel.

Then submit your site to www.Stumbleupon.com which will bring random people to your site.

Then use all social networking you can and drop your link everywhere. YOu should have Links up as many places as you can.

the more links going to your site, the better it is.

I gotta laugh because my site has been up for under two months and I was wondering if my SEO was adequate enough and while looking through my analytic reports saw that someone googled "custom playhomes" and out of 113,000 sites with that phrase mine was third of page 1 and beat out dozens of million dollar companies in addition to beating out my supplier of the kit playhouses I offer in addition to my own...

With the keywords of "custom playhome" my site was third of page 4 out of 58,900 sites.

With the keywords of "custom playhouse" out of 1,310,000 pages I show up as third of page 4 and tenth of page 17 with one of my classified ads with http://www.oodle.com and my ad with http://www.olx.com/ showed up as number 2 on page 15. Sadly as there are so many sites my very own was well down the list and this just shows that as I was focusing on "playhouses and playhomes" I left out a rich keyword such as "playhouse" I plan to remedy this and add "playhouse" more often as soon as I can.

With the keywords of "custom playhouses" out of 1,330,000 pages I show up as sixth of page 10 but one of my ads on an online classifieds was ninth on page 8 .

Just amazing...

It really shows that your placement and choice of keywords, meta tags and getting your URL out on other sites really does make the difference. It does though prove that you should focus much of your attention outside your site on messaging, classifieds and other sites which can offer you more of an online presence. It does work and I am laughing as of it.

Now to wait until it gets closer to Christmas or the financial market returns to normal... I look forward to it and will continue to place more classified ads and community forums...

Happy site building and please do ensure that your pages are filled with rich content that web crawlers enjoy...

Ed

OMG

On window live it was tenth on page 1 of 217,000,000 results when searching for "playhomes" and for "custom playhomes" my site was second of page 1 of 136,000 results.

OK I am still grinning and must say that everything learned here in the forums and on line has worked 100 fold... Every day spent building my site and promoting has paid many times over.

Moral of this story is that it does not take spending thousand of dollars to get on the top 10% of the searches. It simply takes time, hard work and of course Synthasite... ;)
