Hi everyone!

I have created some months ago a Nabble forum and embedded it in my website.

The URL of the forum is http://forum-russian.984154.n3.nabble... but I want this forum to be in my custom domain which is:
http://www.russianforfree.com/forum-o...

The instructions to make that domain change talk about CNAME-record... and I don't know what that is. This is the link to read the instructions:
http://forum-russian.984154.n3.nabble...

Can anyone help me? What do I have to do and how can I do it?

I PASTE THE INSTRUCTIONS ALSO HERE:

The custom domain name feature allows you to setup your Nabble application with a domain name you've already registered through another registrar, such as GoDaddy.

Follow these steps to setup a custom domain name

1 Login to your Domain Registrar account
Please go to your registrar's website (e.g., GoDaddy, Register.com, 1and1.com, etc.) and login.

2 Navigate to the domain's DNS Management page
You are looking to modify the CNAME-Record of your domain, NOT the name servers -- You need to leave your name servers configured with your existing registrar.

3 Setup CNAME-Record
If you are trying to setup a domain like www.mydomain.com, then you should set the CNAME-Record as follows:

HOST POINTS TO
www n3.nabble.com

If you are trying to setup just a sub-domain of your domain (e.g., myforum.mydomain.com), then you should set the CNAME-Record just for this sub-domain.

HOST POINTS TO
myforum n3.nabble.com

Hello russianforfree,

A good place to start is to check out this tutorial on how to manage your domain settings: Managing the domain you bought from Yola.

I will also bring this thread to our DNS Team's attention so they can assist further should you be stuck. Please allow them 48 hours to get back to you.

Thanks Sanja,

I've read the tutorial, but, to be honest, I still don't know what to do :)

I'll be waiting for the reply from the DNS Team.

Thanks!

Hi Jose,

Sorry for the delay in coming back to you!

We have added the CNAME as per Nabble's instructions, and you should be able to add your forum after 48 hours. Could you let us know if it doesn't work after this time?

Thanks!
Jackie

Hi Jackie,

Thanks for the changes you've made but I'm afraid it's not working. I've allowed not two days, but two weeks just in case and nothing has happened.

Please see below 3 prints creens so you can see the issue:

This is were I start. The embeddable application (called Nable) is hosted at nabble.com. In my case the URL of my application is http://forum-russian.984154.n3.nabble...

I would like to have my application here: http://www.russianforfree.com/forum-o...

These are the instructions I see:

As you can see, there's a "show me more details link". When I click it, I can read this:

These instructions you see above are the ones I wrote in my original question and you made the changes according to them.

I waited a few days and then went back to the first screen and I write my URL ( http://www.russianforfree.com/forum-o...) in the space provided. I click "save changes" and this is the message I get:

As you can see, the error message goes "Your domain name currently resolves to an IP address that doesn't belong to Nabble. Please follow the instructions (see link below) in order to update your DNS. If you have just updated your DNS, please wait 24 hours for the changes to take affect".

Do you have any clue about what happened?

Hello russianforfree

Thank you for posting these screen shots. It is very helpful.

I've read through the instructions and I think I know what you might need to change. In this screen....

Enter this URL: myforum.russianforfree.com.

See if that resolves the error. If not, please let us know.
