Shipping cost Features

I have been having a problem with shipping costs. I am a drop shipper, and i have set shipping cost that i have to pay and i need to make sure they are covered Without over charging my customers. I have posted a topic or two under questions and yola staff has been very helpful with telling me more 'checkout' sites that i could try. I have tried paypal, google check out, and every other checkout service that i know of including 'third party' checkout services. I need an option where i can charge a fixed rate for shipping up to say $100.00 total merchandise cost and then for $100.00 and up (total cost) A Percentage of the total cost would be added for shipping. could this possibly be a feature that you could look into and see if it would be possible to add it to the Online store options? I know it might take a while, but i would be completely willing to wait as long as it takes, and pay whatever price Yola needs to charge for this feature If anything.

Shipping is determined by weight ...UPS or Fed Ex wont care if what is in the box costs $1.00 or $100.00....On my new site I am going to offer USPS flat rate and that will work fine for me....What type of products are on your site ? Are you in the USA ?

Hi Savannah,

Thank you for your very specific suggestion.

Having worked at eBay, I understand how each business has certain types of needs that most generic solutions do not address.

I've passed on your suggestion to our engineering team as a feature request. I know we have plans to add to our Online store options, but had not gone to that level of details with variable shipping cost formulas. We'll take a look at this and see if it could apply to more people.

Yes, i am in the USA, But i do not actually do any shipping. I sell the products (all variety's of merchandise) clothing, Home decor, garden decor, Novelty items, you name it my website will have it. I am from Texas, my products ship from California. I am charged a $10.00 shipping cost on orders up to 100.00, and on orders from $100.00 and up a 10% shipping rate.(for ups ground shipping) If i add shipping cost to each item i end up either overcharging my customers or not completely covering the shipping cost i have to pay depending on their order. I know that there should be more shipping options besides the one i mentioned above, but this is something i really need for my online business to work properly.

I drop ship also...I have furniture and home decor on my site.I see what they are doing and it does make it more complicated for you....I ran across this site ...http://www.fatfreecart.com/code.html and it is supposed to integrate with PayPal and Google and might do what you want.....Maybe the staff and others here can take a look as it involves some code and there are other here much better with that than I am....Worth a look anyway

Unfortunately the Yola Online Paypal widget doesn't yet offer this feature. However, you can add it to your site by visiting PayPal - http://www.paypal.com and customizing the "Buy now" or "Add to Cart" button to include shipping costs set to your dollar amount per item and cost.

If you have set up shipping in your Paypal Profile and want to set a specific amount as the shipping basis for all your buttons, you need to:

1. Sign into your PayPal - http://www.paypal.com account.
2. Click the "My account" tab
3. Click the "Profile" link (below the merchant services tab)
4. in the "Selling Preferences" column click the "Set Up Shipping Calculations" link
5. Click either the "Domestic" or "International" start button
6. Select currency and states you ship to and click "Continue" (You can set up zones with a different amount per zone or states)
7. (On next page) Set Up Domestic Shipping Methods (You can choose to calculate shipping based on Order Amount, Weight, or Quantity) In your case it would be "Amount".
8. Click the "Continue" button
9. Verify information and click "Save shipping methods"

Here's how to edit your button to include shipping:

1. Sign into your PayPal - http://www.paypal.com account.
2. Click the "Merchant services" tab in the horizontal menu.
3. Click the "Buy Now Button" or the "Add to Cart Button".
4. Choose button type and enter name and payment details.
5. In Paypal step 1 (Choose button type and enter payment details) for the "Shipping" section select from "Use settings saved in your PayPal profile" (steps 1-9 from above) or "Use specific amount" field (type your desired shipping amount)
6. When done editing click "Create Button".
7. In the next window and in the (Website) code box click the "Select Code".
8. Right click on the highlighted text and click "Copy".
9. Open your site editor and drag an HTML widget where you need it.
10. In the HTML widget paste the code.
11. Then Update your site.

Note that the buttons do not have the amount shown and you will have to add this to a text widget with item name and description. The Paypal window which opens when the button is clicked will show the price to reflect the shipping charges.

Happy site building
Ed
