Shopping cart - Show me the money!

Hi SynthaSite Team

A shopping cart facility:

A visitor can select multiple items to purchase and then checkout and complete the purchase using their credit card.

Credit card payment would be preferable to PayPal because it's more accessible; but apparently PayPal does provide the facility to pay with a credit card if you don't have a PayPal account.

On verification of their payment the user receives an email with a link to download the file/s they purchased (e.g. music; software; video; e-books etc). The link expires in a specified time period.

The files would be hosted by SynthaSite: A free storage/bandwidth usage limit can be specified; and additional storage/bandwidth usage can be a paid service provided by SynthaSite.

Similar attractively priced paid service: www.e-junkie.com

Users may also purchase items requiring physical delivery e.g. cd's; clothing; etc.

This would be an attractive feature for those wishing to monetize their website.

Best Wishes,
Steven Gordon

Hi Steven

Thank you for sharing this with us. Several of our users have asked us about shopping cart and payment facilities, so I am sure they would be interested in this service. I checked out www.e-junkie.com. Is this the service you are recommending? We are, of course, planning to add these features to SynthaSite soon.

Hi Monique

Thanks for your reply. Yes, e-junkie is a good example of the 'monetized file download functionality' - one aspect of the suggestion I posted.

Please give my regards to the guys.

Thanks for your help.

Hi
How soon will you be adding this facility? Do I wait? or do I ask google for help? and hope the outcome is favourable.

Hi Candeez

I can't tell you exactly how long it will be before we add our own shopping cart widget.

However, here is a tip from one of our users on how they added a shopping cart by copying and pasting code into the HTML widget:

Hopefully we will add our own shopping cart soon, but check out this link and see if this idea works for you for now.

Best wishes

Hi Monique
Yes I had a look at this, but I am a complete novice so this is gobbly gook to me. I understand about pasting html but don't know where to find it on the link given.
I have checked google for ideas and may opt for pasting paypal into the site.
Thanks Candeez

I fully sympathize with your plight. SynthaSite is meant for people who do not know how to write code, so it is our job to create something that will make this easy for you. I thought I would share the hack in the meantime in case you felt up to it.

I hope pasting paypal code works for you. You can get a paypal button from Widget Box, which you will find in the "Widgets" folder. Here is the direct link in case you struggle to find it: http://www.widgetbox.com/search?q=paypal
