Hi darcsith

That is a great idea. We are working on templates that will have layout regions and we can certainly consider making ones with that have sidebars.

Right now the best solution is to use the two column layout widget to create a sidebar. Drag and drop one of these onto your page, and then drag the center green axis until you are happy with the width of the columns. You then drop other widgets inside the columns to add content.

Thank you for the suggestion.

Hello Sivaraman,

we are in luck. The last rollout of upgrades included some excellent layout options including two column layouts. These are selectable for a number of styles. So yes.is the answer

the problem with the new layout option is the 3 column layout is a fixed size - i think what you are looking for is the center of the page to be larger than the 2 outside columns? is this correct? i got over this problem with my new site by adding a '2 column' widget and then putting another '2 column' widget in the first one.

the first picture shows how it looks to the viewer the second is the view from within the editor.

Just an idea to get round your problem!

I don't follow? The first person was talking about two colum page but here recommends three colum.

Why you need three places if they want two?

You can also have just two columns, you can see that option in the screen shot that Peter provided.

darcsith starts by using sidebars (plurel) i was explaining a way to get a sidebar on each side of a page, if you only wanted a single side bar the built in 'change layout' option in Synthasites site editor uisng the '2 column right' or '2 column left' option would work perfectly. (See Peters post above)

Thank you.

I misunderstood.

English is my other language and I saw the [ 's ] and mistook this as being possessive and not plural. Foolowed by the "either/or" reference to left or right colum.
