Hi,
I'm new here and recently created my site It's the Right Way (itstherightway.yolasite.com). I created a banner and added it to all my pages on the site but is there a way to link the banner to my home page, so when a visitor clicks on the banner they will go to the site's home page?

Hello Anthony,

Making clickable banners is a relatively simple process. All you need to do is upload your banner as an image file and add it using either the Picture Widget, or by clicking on the "Picture" button on the Text Editing Toolbar to add the banner inside a Text Widget. You then need to turn the banner image into an active link using the Link Editor:

1. Add the picture to your page, using the Picture Widget.
2. Click on "Properties" on the right-hand Sidebar OR click on "Edit" on your Picture Widget which will bring up a dialog box.
3. Click on "Choose A Link" and make your selection.
4. Click on "Apply" or "Save".

To check that your link is working, preview your page and then click on the link.

NOTE: If you add a picture in a Text Widget, simply highlight it and click the "Link" button (this icon looks like three links of a chain with the word "link" beside it) on the Text Editing Toolbar and follow the same steps as above.

I hope this helps. If you need any further assistance, please let me know.

Hi Jeremy,
Thanks so much for your previous reply. In continuing our conversation I have further info for you. The area in question is where the style I chose has deault banner. It allows you to upload a banner which I did but there's no add link capabilities in the edit mode of the banner area section. This is also the area where the page title might go. I can't drag and drop a picture or text widget into this area.
Is there anything I can do to add a link to the banner in this area?

I agree we should have the option on Yola to make the banner clickable. Your idea is a good one and pretty standard for most websites.

I think there are a couple styles, like Clean Slate and No Frills that have no banner. You could then make your own clickable one in the first html widget.

Hi guys, you can still use your own banner even when it has a banner!!! Just use this CSS to remove the banner (it's really just hiding it):

Just drag over an HTML widget and paste this in - this will remove the banner image! :)

Hope this helps!

Hi Nathan,
Thanks for your idea but the problem is that the banner area is pre- frabricated with the template used and can't be edited or deleted. Dragging an html widget over the banner areas is not permitted or an option.

Hi, but, you can use some CSS, all you have to do is add a clear image as big as a regular banner to the site builder and then, you can add this code:

<style type="text/css">
#banner {
position:absolute;
top:5px;
left:25%; /*You will have to change this to fit your needs and change it to fit the area of the banner.*/
}
</style>

You can change the "top:" part and the "left:" part to what you need. "left:" is the percentage it is from the left of the page.

And then, add in this code under that CSS code:

<div id="banner"><img src="resources/BANNER.JPG" width="" height=""></div>

Just change "BANNER.JPG" to the name of the banner in your website's file manager.

If you have any problems, questions or need help with this, please let me know and I'll help!

Sincerely,
Nathan

Thanks Nathan,
I will try this. I haven't used CSS a lot so I might need to contact you after I give it a shot.

Stupid qestion but will the banner appear on all the pages or will it have to be added to each page?

Thanks

Hi, I am sorry, but you'll have to add it to all of the pages. But, I will create a code to add it to all pages with a small code. Sorry about this!

P.S You can also use flash (I think) for the banner and then have the flash banner click. That would work.
