I renamed my SITE, and published, refreshed, published again, and made sure that all of the heading and tabs have the right names on them. When I check the site settings, the proper name is on for the name site. When I launch the site, then copy the link and try to paste in onto another site to advertise, the link is still showing the old name. I don't understand what is going on. I've cleared the cashe and refreshed and re-published several times. I've even logged out, closed the browser, and the restarted in a new one a couple of times, but it's still not working. Please help!

Thank you for your response Gop, all of the titles are correct, it's just the problem with trying to post it to facebook. It should say Tornado Shelter Buddy System, but the night that I made the site I was exhausted and put Joplin Tornado Support Group, which is a different site that I run. So I changed the name and have been waiting for it to change on the links when posted on facebook.

Thank you for explaining that Cassie. I can't quite understand Justine's suggestion as a quicker fix so can't help you with her recommendation.
Now I do I couldn't see the whole reference URL code :

http://www.tornadoshelterbuddysystem.com/index.php?page=new

So I guess this is your best bet.

Glad that it worked. Justine's Fix. No. That's really a combined instruction with your existing address. That's it nothing more

Hi Cassie,

Just to add to Gop's feedback, it sounds like the problem is that the Facebook link is still using your old site information. This happens because of how Facebook handles URLs on their end. Facebook caches URLs on the server side once and we are not sure how often they refresh to account for changes.

A workaround that normally fixes this is if you change the URL (to: http://www.tornadoshelterbuddysystem....) and it should push through your changes.

Hope this helps!

Thank you for letting me know this Justine! That does help a lot. There isn't another way to fix the whole facebook issue that you know of? I think it's pretty crazy that it doesn't fix the problem when we clear our caches. I tried posting the link you made for me, and it works by just showing exactly what was typed. So that works for now, but not in the long run. It's more beneficial if the proper title pops up with a picture. People are more inclined to check it out then.

Hi Cassie,

Your browser's cache is only what you see. Facebook caches links and other stuff on their side on their servers, so it saves in the information over on their servers. No one has control over it (except Facebook of course) but it should update next time their system updates (I think it's every 24 hours). But your cache is only what you see, my cache is only what I see, etc. and it doesn't affect what everyone sees or Facebook's servers.

Also the pictures on Facebook links are actually a variety of pictures selected from the page if you didn't know. When you post a link it should give you a few options of pictures with arrows to click through a few different pictures.

I hope this helps you understand how cache works a little more.

Thanks Nathan. I know all about the pictures, but thank you for letting me know about how Facebook takes care of their caches.
