Site Review

Recently, I have made a site that is made just for me (personal site) and others who care to see it. I would like to get a review on the design of the site. I'm pretty sure that the content on my site is okay so there's no need for a review on that.

You can go to my site here.

Thanks in advance,
Ellie

Hello Ellie

You have done a fabulous job of putting your site together! It's so well-organized and thoughtfully laid out. The site has a really nice presentation as well. I like the colors you chose for your site and I also like how you used the floating menu to help navigate your site. Very cool!

I do have a few suggestions but they are really minor. Please only do what you feel is best for you and your site.

1. The text on your site is quite monochromatic. I wonder if it would help to add some definition and visual dimension to your site by adding color to your titles in each section? Please refer to the screen shot below to see where I've indicated where color could be added.

2. As you can see, I've suggested adding some white space. This helps to break up all the text on your page. It makes it easier for your visitors to read your page when there is sufficient white space. By adding more white space between the columns, it may help for easier reading.

If this is something you would like to do, drag a 2-column widget (aka column divider) over. Then drag another 2-column widget and place in the left-hand side. Place all your content from the left hand side of your page into the far left-hand column. Then, drag all the right-hand content and place in the far right-hand side. You can drag the green bar to the left or right, allowing you to add more or less space between the columns.

3. The text is also a bit on the small side (except for your blog). I would suggest moving 1 size up.

4. You may want to consider adding a favicon to your site. To do this:
1. Click on the Properties sidebar.
2. You will see a "Favorites Icon" field (the second last box from the top). Click on the browse button to the right of the box to browse your desktop or file manager for an image to upload.
3. To see what your favicon will look like, save and preview your page.

5. Lastly, I would encourage you to read up on how to promote your site, use keywords and get your site submitted to a search engine. Here's a link to the tutorials:

Glad to hear it! =) Also, you may want to consider adding a Google Webmaster code to your site. I do not see this particular code on your site. You will find more information about this in SEO Tutorial 4.
