Some Photos Do and Some Do Not

When I load some of my photos onto my blog, it only shows a box with a red x up in the left-hand corner. Other photos will show up perfectly in the body of the blog. All of the photos came out of the same camera and are jpegs. Why do some work perfectly and some do not? Is there something I can do when I get the empty box version to turn it into a photo?

Hello maridelbowes

Did you edit your picture using Photoshop? The problem could be that the images have a CMYK color mode attached to them - which is not web friendly.  You should be able to set your color mode to RGB-16bit and you will then be able to upload them and view them on your site. An easy way to do this is instead of just selecting "save", choose "save for web" in Photoshop. The image will then be automatically saved in the correct format.

If this does not resolve the issue, please post your blog URL so that we can take a closer look at what's going on.

Thanks, Sanja. No, I didn't edit the pictures in photo shop. As I understand it, your response is related to that issue, correct? So nothing there I can try if I didn't use photoshop?

My blog url is: http://www.evolvingjourney.com/blog.php

However, I haven't published the blog in question because I didn't want it to post without a picture.

Always appreciative of your help,
Maridel

Hi Maridelbowes,

I did take a look in your Sitebuilder. Can you please let me know for which post the picture is not showing up?

p.s. You don't need to publish your blog for me to see it. :)

Thanks, Sanja,
Right now I have a bigger issue which is that I can't get into my site.
When I log on, the loading site circles just keep revolving indefinetely, and nothing loads.
It happened yesterday and I assumed it would right itself by today, but it hasn't.
If you can help me with that, then we can go on to the previous issue.

Appreciate whatever you can do to get me up and running as soon as possible.
Need to edit and post the blog that is on there but not published.
It's the one I wanted the picture for. It's title is "Coming Home or Going Home?"

Hi Maridel

Thank you for getting back to use. Sanja is currently offline, but I am able to help.

If you are struggling to load your website in the Sitebuilder, it could be a bug that we are currently experiencing. One thing you can do is log into Yola and then change the web address at the top of your screen, to http://sitebuilder.yola.com.

Here are some other things you can try:

  • Use the Safari browser. Here is a link: Download Safari

  • If you are using Internet Explorer, please check that Compatibility Mode is turned off. Here is a link that explains how to do this: Compatibility Mode - turn off
  • .

We are investigating the problem and it will help us if you can tell us the following:

  1. Which country are you in?

  2. Which website browser and version are you using?

  3. Which Operating System, e.g. Windows 7 are you using?

  4. Do you have anti-virus software installed?

Thank you
Nazlie

Hi Nazlie--

thanks for your feedback.
If I change the address, what are the ramifications of that? Is that temporary?

I tried to turn off the Compatibility Mode on Internet Explorer, but it took me to a registry repair download which my security (Eset) would not accept and wanted me to submit for analysis. Was that related to turning off the Compat Mode or can that be done separately?

I haven't yet downloaded Safari. Isn't that just for Apple?

Here are my responses to the questions you posted:

1) I live in the US
2) Internet Explorer Version 8
3) I am using Windows XP
4) Yes, I have Eset installed

Thanks for your help on this, Nazie.

Hello Maridel,

We are getting quite close to a fix! The link is just a temporary way to allow you access to your Sitebuilder. It will not have any residual effects on your site. As for the security - I am not sure. This would need to be asked of a computer technician.

Safari can be used for all computers! Thanks again for you patience as we continue to work on this.

Hi Nazlie,
It looks like the system is fixed! Now I need to get back to the original photo question that I asked Sanja. See above in conversation.
Thanks to either/both of you!

Hello Maridel,

I'm glad to hear that you were able to log back into your Sitebuilder. Now, we can focus back on the original issue as you said :)

I had asked you earlier if you could please let me know for which post the picture is not showing up? If you could also share the image file name that would be very helpful.

Thanks, Sanja--

I've already posted that blog without a picture.
Can I contact you next time I post a picture and it doesn't work?
Of course, it just might too!
