Hello Guys, how are you?
i'm new here and i'm trying to learn as much as i can to put my two websites on air asap.
Since i work as a model/actor, the first website is a personal website, where i can upload my pictures and videos.
the second is my scouting agency website, where i also need to upload pictures.
So here goes my questions:
1) Is there any way to make a page where its easier to look at pictures, like, if i put all the pictures in a small size, so it fits the screen, and when i click the picture would get bigger?
2) Is there a way to make my showreel start playing as soon as a person enter my website?
3) Is there a way to upload a video, without having them in another website like metacafe, youtube? Because in some countries, these websites are banned, so i'm afraid the clients won't be able to watch my videos.
I will appreciate a lot if you could help me out.
I loved the idea of the website and how everything works, and i'm looking forward to keep improving the website, putting out as soon as i can and make this dream come true.
Thank you very much,
Cesar Curti

Hello Cesar Curti

Welcome to Yola and you have found the right place to be asking these questions! We'll be glad to assist you with this.

1) Is there any way to make a page where its easier to look at pictures, like, if i put all the pictures in a small size, so it fits the screen, and when i click the picture would get bigger?

The Flickr Lightbox Widget allows you to quickly and easily create a slick photo gallery with thumbnails that link to larger images. Here's how it is done:

1. In the Sidebar in Yola, open the "Photo Galleries & Video" folder.
2. Drag and drop a Flickr Lightbox Widget onto your page.
3. In the properties sidebar enter your Flickr account email address (usually a Yahoo! address) in the email address field.
4. In the "Photo Count" field, enter the number of images you want to display.
5. In the "Search" field, enter the tags of the photos you want to pull from Flickr (make sure you have added tags to your Flickr photos or you will not get the desired result).
6. Specify how many columns you want for your photo gallery.
7. Click on the Image Size drop down menu to select small square, thumbnail or medium sized images.
8. Finally, choose between a "modern" or "plain" style for your photo gallery images.
9. Click the "Apply" button to update your photo gallery.

Now save and preview your page. You will have a gallery of clickable images. In the top right hand corner of the large view of the images, click the "next" button to view the next image in the gallery. Click the "Close" button when you are finished browsing through your gallery.

Note: If there are privacy settings on your Flickr photos the search will not be successful. The photos need to be publicly available for it to work.

We have a great tutorial for you to view, please click here: Photo Galleries.

For question 2 & 3:

To embed a video file into your site, please follow these steps:

1. Locate the URL of your file. e.g. http://yourdomain.yolasite.com/resour....
2. Please go to freevideocoding.com.
3. Select the media you want to post.
4. Enter your Media file location (the URL of your file)
5. Select "Embed the Player".
6. Click on "Make HTML" button.
7. Highlight and copy the code provided.
8. Drag and drop an HTML widget and paste in the code.
9. Click "OK".

You should see your video working. Please note that there is a buffering period - the speed of this is dependent on the speed of your internet's server.

I hope this answers your question. Please let me know if it does not.

Hello Sanja, how are you?

Thank you very much for your time and help.

Regarding the first question, you told me i have to upload all the pics on Flickr and select them to be public, right?
I could use that for my own website, but for the agency's website, i don't know if it would be a good idea, since anyone could go to my Flickr and "steal" the model's pictures.
Do you know if there's any way to make it impossible to simple save the pictures?
Otherwise it would fit just perfect my idea.

And about my last question, i followed all the steps, but i still can't see the video in the website.
I highlighted and paste the HTML address in the HTML widget, but the video still doesn't show up.
Probably i'm doing something wrong, but i can't see what.

I will appreciate a lot if you could help me again.

Thank you and all the best,

Cesar Curti

Hello Cesar

I understand the need to protect your photos.

We have an excellent tutorial which will give you lots of information on various photo gallery options as well as creating portfolios and presentations, here is the link: Photo Galleries, Portfolios & Presentations Tutorial .

If you are HTML savvy, you could also try a code from this site: Yola Code Site and look under the image galleries.

In regards to to your video, can you please point me to the page where you have tried to implement this? I'll see if I can figure out what's going on.

Hello Sanja,

Thanks again for the fast reply.

Unfortunatelly, i'm not being able to open any of the links you sent me, i don't know why.

The first one i can't even click on it, and when i search for it, an error occurs.
(Fatal error: Call to undefined function get_instance() in /var/www/portal/system/application/errors/error_php.php on line 2)

And the second one, doesn't open as well. =( hehe...

Looks like the universe is conspiring against me!!! hehe...

The page where i tried to implement the video is the project Cesar Curti.
http://sitebuilder.yola.com/ide/index...

The one i tried to, as soon as somebody opens the page, the video would start playing right away.

Please, i will appreciate a lot if you could help me.
I just need to figure how to do these video and pictures thing, so i can finish the rest easilly, since i already have everything in my mind, and i've been reading a lot in here.

Take care Sanja, and have a great weekend,

Cesar Curti
