Still deciding on Yola - couple of questions

- Hello. I ́m searching for a website creator to create an online shop. I have a couple of questions about yola. I ́m comparing, specifically, between Yola and Create.

- I also sell on Ebay and would like to manage inventory between the website and Ebay. Does Yola provide this? (create. does)

- Does Yola have a competent search feature (insite the website, not google)?

- Does Yola permit to turn off the shopping cart but still maintain the shop as a catalogue?

- Is Yola easy to work if I want to create a multi language website (I know it doesn ́t provide the option, I need to do it by hand but is it easy to work around the shop for this?)

- How much will it cost to keep my domain after the one year free with WHOIS option?

- Can I add the products in multi categories (New items, Sale, etc.)?

I ́m deciding between these two providers. I loved the Yola design options (more freedom than create.) but these questions are keeping me from registering just yet.

Thank you. Rita

Hello Rita,

Firstly the Yola Online Store isn't SEO enabled. This means for example if someone is searching for a specific item on the web, your Yola Online Store products won't be seen. This is a major limitation that Yola have not addressed successfully despite promises, reactions and attempts to implement this for well over a year. There are some users who have left Yola because of this.
  • Yola doesn't have a direct facility for managing inventory between ebay and their Online Store but it can be managed using a free third party facility: Turbo Lister.

  • The Online Store has a search facility within the Store.

  • You can use the Yola Online Store as a catalogue only.

  • The Online Store can be used in other languages. Product categories can be utilised for this. Products themselves can be duplicated in other languages as well and simply selected in your store setup.

  • A typical .com domain costs approx $12.00 a year currently. Domain registration privacy is an additional ~$10.00 per year.

  • Multiple product categories are easy to manage with the Store.

Hello, thank you for your answer.

- Do you think create. has better SEO?
- Do you have any suggestions for me?

I ́m liking the Yola option more and more but these decisions are always complicated. =)

Yes. Most definitely and proven.
The Yola platform doesn't allow for the Ecwid SEO function to work in summary.

The robots can't see the products within the Yola implementation of the Store.

Your store on the other hand is indexible, I can search and find each of your products. On various sites with the Yola store I have never been able to find a specific product, mine and better ranking sites.

I am asking if you feel Ecwid SEO abilities are any better than say a product page on my new site such as this one with my SEO and schema markup http://ktdusa.com/end-table-wood-big-...

Sorry, misunderstood. initially.

No I think that the Ecwid SEO is as good and no better than yours.
The benefit is in the inventory management not in the SEO.

Your site is extraordinary in its artistic design and it would be quite a challenge to find any Cart that would display your products better than you have done. (an opinion)

A potential double benefit may possibly arise if you list pages/categories under expanded description keywords as a narrative above the widget. Searches could find your narrative categories this way. Individual products are embedded within the Store and aren't able to be manipulated as such.

It's unclear to me whether or not the description field within the product listing of the cart is indexable but certainly the product Title within the cart is. Possibly related to h1 or Title tags(?) then there are the secret algorithms of Google etc!

Hello Rita

Gop has given you the right answers. You can close your Yola Online Store for maintenance, which makes it inaccessible for your customers, while you can still do any edits on your Online Store Control Panel.

If you'd like to offer your whole website (not just your store) in another language, you will find some helpful ideas on this thread. If you'd like to see an example of a real Yola customer, please see Oliver Peter's Winkel Law website.

However, with regard to SEO for Yola Online Store, we're currently working on a plan to meet this need. We're taking some time to be able to offer a thought-out solution, and I hope we'll be able to offer it to all our customers soon.

If you have any more questions, Rita, please let us know, and I'll be happy to answer.
