Hi Perko

By hotlinking are you referring to the the flashvortex logo and link embedded in the button you have on your index page?

If so... Then the inclusion of this link is the terms by which you can use their product for free. They do offer a paid yearly membership of $20 which unlocks all the features and allows for the removal of this link and logo.

If this is not what you are referring please explain and I will try to answer.

Hi Ed,

Hotlinking is when someone links directly to non-html objects not on one own's server, such as images, .js files etc. The victim's server in this case is robbed of bandwidth. For more info on this here is an article you may find interesting: http://www.alistapart.com/articles/ho...

Of course I know Ruth ;))) I have others do it to me and I am not new to the game so to speak... lol

In Perko's case though I asked the question as I did because I was trying to understand if they understood as well.

There was no identifiers in the source that one could simply copy and edit the code to place on their own site and yes Hotlink... I know that it is possible to get the URL to the swf file another way but it would take a bit of knowledge to actually make the swf work on another site. With a swf file one cannot simply right click and link to it.

As the only two swf files I see on their site are from Flashvortex I had to ask if the company link is what was being referred to as hotlinking..

Ruth I am stickin my tongue out atcha... LOL ;))))))))

Well I figured, it might not be a common term that people knew about so we could use some explanation. I did wonder that you seemed not to know about it lol

Hi Perko,

I'm sorry we haven't gotten to this question. Many of the prevention methods for hotlinking that I've seen will not work with SynthaSite as they require php.

I'm going to speak to some of our tech guys and see if they have a solution for you.
